In my 20s people commented on how young i looked. At 41 people aske me what i did before as a job ( am retraining). A lecturer also said my colleagues were young and i was young-ish.
So obviously i look my age.
Aibu to slightly gutted i no longer look properly young?

I’m 43 and I always looked young for my age until a few years ago (thank you DC 2&3).

I don’t care though. I don’t look older than my age I don’t think. So it’s fine.

This paranoia about looks rest on the belief that being younger is intrinsically better. I get the young and healthy is better than old and frail, but as long as your healthy and active looking young/old is not a judgement on your value. I don’t give a stuff.

I typed you’re. Honest.

I have always looked older than i am - was great when i was 16 but not quite as great now at 36!! I am rubbish at looking after my skin so i have crows feet, frown lines and grey streaks in my hair (i do colour it sometimes but often forget).
But it doesn't matter! It bothers me so much that we place so much emphasis on looking young. What is it for? Why does it matter? So you look your age- why is that a bad thing?

If you're 41, you're not properly young by any reckoning! Tough, but there isn't a face cream in the world that will make you look 20.

I also feel gutted about this OP and am the same age as you... Up until roughly my middle 30s people were always shocked by my age and thought I was much younger. Nowadays I drop my age into conversation, leave a suitable pause for people to express their surprise and there is a deafening silence... Blush

Looking young was all I really had looks wise, so it's very depressing!!

I too think my children have broken me... I was looking at photos of my husband and I from 5 years ago (pre children) and we look about 12!!!
