To think Morrisons will go to shit?

Morrisons plan to make 3000 in-store managers redundant, but they can have "new" jobs at lower wages.

AIBU to think that the "new" jobs will include a lot of the same duties that were previously part of the now-supposedly-redundant management roles? That Morrisons will essentially be asking its staff to do the same work for lower status and pay? And that the staff aren't stupid and this is bound to piss them off big time?

Any Morrisons workers here?

The plan is to cull the 3000 department managers, and have the remaining ones doing more ‘managing‘, and less of the colleague role. Supposedly also taking on more staff. Just like they promised during the last restructure 2 years ago. Also only having 1 assistant manager instead of 3 or 4.

(When I say cull, what will actually happen is absolutely no one is safe and you’ll have several managers applying for one job)

The restructure is following the Tesco model of management.

There is far more to retail management than the average person will ever see.

Wish nothing but good wishes to the man who uttered the words “no wonder 3000 of you are losing your jobs, you’re shit” when he couldn’t get his own way in a Morrison’s yesterday, mere hours after the announcement.

I prefer to not behave like a prick but Boomers have their own rules.

Doesn’t surprise me, I grew with a few family members and a number of friends having worked in stores and at Head Office there and they’re known for being absolute horrors. Ken Morrison was vile. I did think they’d turned it around in the past 5 years or so......clearly not.

I would tell them to piss right off. If they changed someone's role and pay them less but expect them to do the same work they got to be having a right laugh. I would suggest the big bosses get their hands dirty!

You could walk every aisle in Morrisson's here without seeing a single staff member - there's never anyone on customer information desk - and rarely anyone on the self-service tills.

Bloody horrible company to work for! My ex did for years and was treated like shit.

I worked for asda for 5 years and got treated better and that's saying something as they're not brilliant either!

I wouldn't shop there if you paid me, it's the most depressing shop.
