Just 2 plumbers/brickies?? More like 2000!

But absolutely yes, I agree.

TellusMater · 30/08/2007 23:53

More than? No

As well as? Of course

gibberish · 30/08/2007 23:57

Yes. I've had a HELL of a job getting a joiner this past few weeks.

WinkyWinkola · 31/08/2007 07:44

Really wish I'd trained as a plumber or an electrician or a carpenter instead of going to university twice. Seriously. I'd be raking it in now.

What do you reckon the age limit is on retraining? I mean in terms of being physically able to do the work.. .. . . .

OrmIrian · 31/08/2007 07:48

Not sure. I wouldn't want a plumber operating on my heart for example . But we are short of them atm

However if tradesmen are sooooo useful, how come people are rude about them all the time? From using their toilets, to demanding too much tea or not doing the job fast enough Bloody thankless task doing a private job (as DH knows to his cost).

I suspect DS#1 will do something of that kind but after doing a related qualification. Rather than DH whose only qualification was a BEd

Yes because there are zillions of people with degrees, and no plumbers anywhere. So yea at least until there is a better balance, I guess.
