A boy in my child’s class will be turning 5 next week & I purchased a 8+ toy for him (box of magic tricks), was that a wrong decision? Will his parents be looking at me like wtf Confused

What would your thoughts be if you received that for your child?

Many thanks

It depends on the child really? My DC is not yet 4 and I've bought age 6+ toys before because the ones for her age range are so babyish and she gets really bored quickly with them and needs some things which are a bit more advanced to hold her attention

I think the 5 year old will not be able to do hardly any of the tricks. The booklet is miles long on each trick and there about 10 steps on each trick. My nephew Whois 9 got one for Christmas and he couldn’t do the majority and got frustrated.
Tbh if someone bought an 8+ gift for my 5 year old I would think it was a regift

I imagine it will be a bit beyond him at the moment as he is unlikely to be able to read and comprehend the instructions until he is older. I suspect it will languish unused in the back of a cupboard for years.I would put it away for a future birthday gift and get one more suitable.

it would be misunderstood
