Itchy blister at IV site

Just that really. Had an IV for a short time a week ago and all of a sudden a red blister that's itching like hell and is red around it has popped up.

It's really hard for me to get to a doctor (and don't think it merits that yet anyway) and I'm pretty sick with a horrid cold so don't really like her idea of a 6 hour round trip to be told I'm fussing over nowt, but just wanted to see if this was something I needed to be worried about.

It wouldn't have worried me a day or so after but it's weird to happen a week later.

Not in the UK so can't ring NHS direct or anything.

Could you get to a chemist? It could be infected.

@Ponoka7 No I can't easily get to a chemist either. I've put some antibacterial cream on (like germoline). Surely if it was infected it would have happened before a week though?
