CMS - Liability Order

Not sure where to put this. Does anyone have an advice on liability orders? One was granted beginning of November due to ex not paying child support so arrears have built up over the last 3 years. Did you get any money as a result of it? How long did it take? Thanks.

Mine was granted and of August, I got the first payment early October.
Assuming your ex is working for an employer, they allow time for the liability order to be put in place, processed by payroll and then some time for the payment to get to CMS. After the first month it was quicker and payment arrived around the 1st of the following month.

This assumes your ex is employed not self employed and bear in mind it doesn't prevent him trying to get it changed which can cause a month or so delay in payments again.

Don’t hold your breath. Never had a penny and ex has several of these things,

enforcement not great by the Cms even with a liability order, definitely easier if they’re in employment and likely to stay at the same place. My ex has a charge on his house and still dicks around, missing payments willy Nilly. They soon cotton on they have to pay the minimum every few mths, not every month to keep out of court 😡

Ex is self employed, though he claims not to work. All his work is cash in hand. Arrears are built up based on inaccurate information when he is employed back in 2016 as this is the only time in years he had paid tax.

I'm sorry to say that no I've still not seen a penny of the now almost £70000 he owes (hasn't paid in 17 years) however I now have an order attached to his house when he sells it I get my money. I'm still trying to find out if I can force him to sell or if I just have to wait
