Hi
Every winter our daughter gets any type of Ear, Nose or Throat infection which will clear but results in months of sore/queasy tummies. Eventually come spring gets better and probiotics have seemed to help.
Last year in August she got a bug when she returned to school and over the weeks she got worse and worse until a shadow of herself. No temperature but sore ears, throat, headache & sore tummy with it being at its worst at bedtime. She couldn’t put her head down at night. Eventually we got white spot on tonsil (I was at GP every week for 4 weeks) so I managed to get antibiotics and 3 days later she was back to her formal self and no longer a shadow.
She wasn’t 100% though and same thing happened with build up until antibiotics December. This helped again but it’s been building up and sore head, throat, ears and tummy again with white spots on tonsils. No temperature or inflammation to ears though (not sure if can get middle ear infection)
We had white blood count test done December & again 4 weeks later which was last week. Results => her Neutrophil count was low (reading 1.3) and white blood cell count low (reading of 4). We are waiting to hear from doctor so I’m not sure what this means.
We previously saw different doctors with different views as to what the issue could be. The one that seems most likely is bacterial mesenteric adonitis
I wondered if this year the ears/throat could be due to bacterial overgrowth as we saw a nutritionalist in April who advised to take 3 saccharomyces boulardii probiotic and 1 Lactobacillius Rhamonos GG per day. This initially made a big difference, then things changed and I wondered if could be something to do with taking these for months. It’s the first time had any issues with ears, throat, headache.
Sorry for long post but worried about her, particularly not knowing what could be causing the issues.
Any thoughts or advice gratefully received.
Thank you
