The bungee jumping pig

HelloHelloHelloHelloHelloHello · 20/01/2020 17:59

AIBU to have nearly been sick when I read this story. How on Earth did people think it was ok to push a pig off an incredibly high crane for a bungee jump. The poor terrified little thing

Then to top it off ... They said 'the pig was fine and had been sent to the slaughter house'. As if that makes it all ok(?)

So he survives what he thought was a plunge to his death, being strung up by wires and pushed around by scary men laughing at him. Then his fate still remains as dinner.

Do you have a link?

It sounds awful. I can't imagine anyone saying YABU.

WorraLiberty · 20/01/2020 18:02

OMG that's beyond comprehension.

IckyIsAFuckingStupidWord · 20/01/2020 18:02

That’s sick but it is China where they have very little interest in animal welfare.

Poor pig.

There's a link from BBC above, and this one from the sun www.thesun.co.uk/news/10778643/outrage-china-theme-park-pig-bungee-jump/

It’s a horrible thing to do to a living thing.

Are you vegetarian?

DuesToTheDirt · 20/01/2020 18:06

People are horrible. Not much surprises me in that respect.

HelloHelloHelloHelloHelloHello · 20/01/2020 18:06

Yes purple, I'm a veggie! But even so, killing a pig to eat it is one thing! Terrifying the poor thing just for a laugh is another matter entirely ... :(

No surprise that this happened in China. I'm sure there are exceptions but on the whole the Chinese people are complete psychopaths when it comes to animals. As if that poor pig wouldn't have been having a bad enough life already Sad

Tombliwho · 20/01/2020 18:44

Well...its China. I'm not as shocked as I should be.

TwoleftUggs · 20/01/2020 18:48

I’m not vegetarian but I read the story and saw pictures of the poor pig this morning and it really distressed me. It was plain cruel and terrifying for the pig.

Corna · 20/01/2020 18:48

Horrible. Awful cruel and tragic. I can't imagine the mentality of someone who would do something so horrific. Sadly there are plenty all over the world who do.

Bloke23 · 20/01/2020 18:50

Its china, what do you expect, they have some of the worst human rights in the world, really think they give a shit about animals

crazycatgal · 20/01/2020 18:59

I saw this earlier and thought that it was horrific. Watching the video has made me feel sick.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/01/2020 21:28

I haven't watched the video yet .

But what really horrifies me is the thought that this would've involved more than one person. They would all have to agree "Oh this seems like a good idea" Hmm

Poor animal , it would have experienced sheer terror .

(It is a well known fact that a stressed animal gives unpalatable meat so if they ate the pig, I hope it bloody choked them )

bluebells100 · 20/01/2020 21:38

Vile disgusting bastards.

FunkyPidgeonPie · 20/01/2020 21:40

Waiting for the first comment to mention the white privilege of those who dare to criticise....3...2...1

almostfreeatlast · 20/01/2020 21:41

That’s one of the most horrific things I’ve ever seen. Evil monsters!!

theconstantinoplegardener · 20/01/2020 21:49

It is dreadful, but I was cheered to see that the majority of Chinese netizens condemned this action. Awareness of animal rights is growing in China.

AbsentmindedWoman · 20/01/2020 21:51

That's appalling. Who thought it'd be funny?

Really? I think you'll have a long wait.

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/pigs-eat-alive-cannibal-farm-ballymena-northern-ireland-meat-animal-rights-a9289376.html

This happen recently in NI. In a "high welfare red tractor" farm. Well over 90% of pigs in the uk are kept in barns and sow cages. These poor beautiful animals.

BobLobLawLLB · 20/01/2020 22:17

The farmers’ union condemned the activists for risking causing panic in the animals by going into sheds without permission

Hmm
AgathaVanHelsing · 20/01/2020 22:20

@FunkyPidgeonPie white privilege n stuff ect ect

You ok hun?

Cherrysoup · 20/01/2020 22:31

Fucking arseholes. Wish I could do the same back to them.

As a pp says, animal rights are very slowly improving, but some of the practices over there are beyond belief. I think some people in the west are sometimes a bit too bonkers when it comes to their animals, but hopefully China will continue to improve their animal welfare.

Am I wrong in thinking that animal brothels were only recently outlawed in Denmark? 2015? www.newser.com/story/205814/denmark-shuts-animal-brothels-with-bestiality-ban.html I believe they still hold the annual slaughter of whales in the Faroe isles? Distressing link: metro.co.uk/2019/05/30/faroe-islands-defend-slaughter-whales-sea-turns-red-blood-9743755/

Sadly, China is not the worst offender. 😢
