To despise Henry hoovers??? And don't get me started on bloody hetty either Envy

I have been a cleaner for 4 years and have worked for a couple of companies who all have had Henry hoovers. I also worked in a nursing home years ago and they had one there too! I was talking with another cleaner this morning and she said the same thing about the companies she's worked for.

Their clunky and too heavy to carry, get stuck behind doors and all the furniture, the pipe always slips off and the flipping nozzle always comes off too! And then there's changing the bag full of dust Sad oh and their shit on laminate flooring also. I use an upright dyson at home and I love it. My friend who is also a cleaner brings her cordless dyson to work sometimes so she doesn't have to bother with Henry. I'm thinking of doing the same thing and looking for a cheap second hand one on Facebook/eBay.

So if you use a Henry, what is it that makes you love him? Would also be interested to hear from people who run their own cleaning companies and use these hoovers. Why do you choose them?

They are shit indeed! It honestly takes me about 2 hours to hoover a 3 story house but with a dyson it would probably take me 10 mins max! I just have no idea why they are so popular Hmm

One of my jobs got an even bloody longer hose for his!! Nightmare!!

MummyFriend · 20/01/2020 12:48

Totally agree! Whenever I see people ask for recommendations for Hoovers to deal with pet hair loads of people always recommend Henry. I used to work in a vet's and we had a new one there that was utterly useless! I upgraded that too. I don't get the obsession either, OP!

bellinisurge · 20/01/2020 12:51

Lighter than a dyson and more manoeuvrable. And cheaper. Don't know if that counts as obsession.

crazycleanerx · 20/01/2020 22:35

Oh I feel your pain @Whynosnowyet that would be my worst nightmare. The hose is already a huge pain in the arse and constantly twists! I really can't believe it's lighter than a dyson @bellinisurge it really doesn't feel like it. Madness!

I work in an office as a cleaner and hate the wee bastard....always getting stuck in doorways and round corners and isnt particularly effective on the carpet tiles we have. I long for the day he gives up the ghost and i can request a dyson instead Blush (I just know I am going to feel guilty for saying that when his wee smiley face greets me when I open the cupboard in the morning Grin)

Although i celebrated when our old fashioned cumbersome floor steamer broke and, with much excitement, my colleague and i got them to order a Shark one. Useless on the type of tiles in the corridor and kitchens and we have reverted back to a good old mop and bucket! Helps with the bingo wings i suppose...

Yabu. To start a thread called nothing but 'AIBU Lighthearted' and sucker people in to a load of drivel about vacuum cleaners. Grin

crazycleanerx · 20/01/2020 23:02

I take it you have a Henry @MoaningMinniee Grin

Can't help but feel guilty hating him too when I see that smile Grin @SquidwardTentacles surprised to hear about the shark, my sister has one of them and loves it but her house is mainly carpet so perhaps like you said their not very good on laminate/tiled flooring. I absolutely love my dyson!
