“ State schools and colleges in England can now order free period products for students as part of a government scheme to tackle period poverty.
Tampons, pads and menstrual cups will be available for primary and secondary institutions to buy if they opt in.”.

This from the BBC news. Confused as to wether the sanitary products will be free to schools or schools will have to purchase out of their budget.

They have to buy them but they've been allocated extra funding to spend on them so they're effectively free up to a certain amount.

I’m more bemused by the fact that the whole BBC article never once uses the word “girls” Confused

Now all we need is for this government to make sure all schools can afford sufficient paper, books, pens and qualified teachers and they’ll really be on to something, I think. Let’s give them another ten years or so to give it a shot.
