to expect a nursery worker to be able to make a half decent job of changinging a sh*tty nappy?

Went to pick ds (2.2) up from nursery today and when I arrived the nursery nurse was just off to change his nappy as he'd had a poo. I followed her into the changing area and honestly i've never seen someone make such a mess!

She managed to smear it up his legs, onto the changing mat which he then put his hands in. By the time she was done he had flecks of poo on the outside of his trousers and his sleeves! I hanged him again when i got home and found a nice little lump of poo squashed into the crease of the back of his knee lovely!

I'm not cross about it just totally bemused at how she could have made such a hash of it!

I changed him!

Obviously being covered in poo is not a hanging offense

She could have been having a bad day. DS is like this I and I thought I was a competent bum changer

How absolutely intimidating for her to have you standing there keeping watch over her changing your son.

Think you should have offered to have done it yourself.

expatinscotland · 30/08/2007 15:31

Why didn't you change him yourself?

ConnorTraceptive · 30/08/2007 15:33

Don't be ridiculous! I wasn't standing watch I'm not that precious, I just followed her through to chat with her about his day and chat to my little boy rather than stand around like a lemon!

It's changing a bum for goodness sake hardly the pressure of trying to complete the Krypton Factor

And I did offer but she insisted

Is she new? would have thought she could do it with her eyes shut.

maybe she was ..

wastingmylife · 30/08/2007 17:10

I think you have to face facts. Most people are not going to like changing other people's children's nappies. She might not particularly care how good she is at it - it isn't her child.

HonoriaGlossop · 30/08/2007 17:12

If I was there chatting I'd have done it for my ds.

I expect she WAS conscious she was being watched. Is she new?

ConnorTraceptive · 30/08/2007 17:21

I did offer honoria but she said no.

Don't get me wrong I was pleased she wanted to send ds home with a clean nappy was just surprised at how cack handed she was.

I hope she wasn't nervous I certainly didn't want to make her feel that way was just being chatty.
