I was insulted today and told I look much older than I am. Could I ask you to tell me how old you think? Blush

Be kind, but honest

It’s weird seeing pics of folk on social media because you converse with people that are strangers and then when they post their pics then you think that you didn’t imagine them to look that way iyswim

Yes! It's surreal. I always imagine people to look older in real life than they do.

sandybanana · 19/01/2020 08:50

You look much better without the filters.

You have lovely eyes but need to quit the smoking - it's ageing you.

Inappropriatefemale · 19/01/2020 08:51

I don’t always think smokers look older and you can also get people with zero lines or wrinkles yet they still look their age, it’s weird.

skidley · 19/01/2020 08:56

OP - there are so many really harsh guesses. The filters make you look much older than you are but the natural photo you posted, I think you look round about your actual age, I thought about mid 40s. You smoke and perhaps maybe in need of a restyle but I say that as someone who is in much more in need of a restyle that you.

However all this pish about 'I'm 50 and you look older than me' is just insulting. We live with our looks every single day (obviously) and it can be so hard to see ourselves as others see us. We dont see the day to day aging that others see. I'll bet most people who said that are do look their age if not older. I know very few people who look a lot younger than they are. Lookinh 42 when you are really 45 is hardly a huge achievement so with you looking possibly 45 when you are 42 is really no big deal. I know of one woman in her 40s who looks late 30s. I also know one woman who looked at leat 10 years younger than her actual age until she reached late 40s. Now she really looks her age. Until recently I thought I looked younger than my age. I'm like my friend how has aged quickly. But its not just about your actual face, its about style, hairs, grooming, how you present yourself, looking your best. My friend who now looks her age still looks bloody amazing. I, however, dont.

If you are happy with your looks keep as you are, if you wish to restyle for your own sake, then do so, but do it for you, not other people, x

Cyclelover
I looked carefully and gave you 38-43.
But: you have got some lines. This is partly just genetic - but you're very slim and pretty so I think you just have to do the best you can to lessen the lines.
Being thin, smoking, being out in the sun a lot and not using moisturiser will all make it worse.

I thought yes, slim and possibly a smoker, has had lots of sun tans.

You need to concentrate BIG TIME now on the facial skin care.

My suggestions:
(and these work)

Washing

Wash your face and neck morning (cold water) and night (warm water) with this:
Clarins gentle foaming cleanser with Shea butter

It feels lovely and leaves the skin tightened and shiny.

3-4 times a week** substitute with:
Clarins one step gentle exfoliating cleanser with orange oil.

*Moisturiser
*
Do you really want to do the job and make a huge difference?

I used Clarins gentle day cream for a long while, but then discovered a Chanel cream which is mind-blowingly effective and feels amazing.

But it isn't cheap.

If you get it in Boots with double or triple points, you get £40 or so back on the cost. And you only need to buy it once every 20 weeks or so. So it costs
About £1.70 a day
Because it's £278 a pot, although only buy with discount and it's around £238.

They have eye cream too and cleansers etc. But I just put that cream in once a day and ...... it works. I'm lucky genetically too, and don't smoke and haven't got that much sun and am a bit fatter than I was, which I guess helps. And I swim every day. And I eat lots of salad etc. But still. My skin isn't happy without that cream.

Chanel Sublimage. Texture supreme. (They'll tell you Texture Fine but an older Chanel lady first advised me that Texture Supreme is the miracle worker ...).

DoloresTheDonkey · 19/01/2020 09:01

Yikes what's with everyone posting pictures of themselves, this is not a very mumsnetty thing to do Shock

Anyway I'd guessed around 55, my age, and then read the first half of the thread, saw op was actually only 42. I skim read the rest of the thread.

Op it's your hair colour and makeup that's ageing you and the St. George's day filter, no one my age or above 16 that I know would ever use that bar one person. And she uses every filter known to man.

If you really want to tackle your face then alongside ditching the fags, start a skin care routine, a proper one. I'd suggest joining the Caroline Hirons skincare group on fb, it's addictive but you will gain the knowledge you need about taking care of your skin.

LotteLupin · 19/01/2020 09:01

Inappropriate you have amazing skin.

I think your face looks late 20s but your eyes look older in their expression.

LotteLupin · 19/01/2020 09:04

SirChing you're also tricky. Because you have very young skin. You could be a student. Or you could be 32.

My range is 21-34 for you. !!

BayandBlonde · 19/01/2020 09:04

No filter here. I been told I look like a ten year old boy Confused actually 40 something

To ask you to tell me how old I look?
Inappropriatefemale · 19/01/2020 09:05

@BayandBlonde late 30s to early 40s

SirChing · 19/01/2020 09:06

@LotteLupin I'm 43, but you are also now a new best friend Grin

LotteLupin · 19/01/2020 09:07
  • ByeFeliciaa

You could be 15!! But I'm guessing you would be less likely to be on MN so I think you're very probably 20s, but could be v lucky early 30s.

I think 28 or so though.

BayandBlonde · 19/01/2020 09:07

@Inappropriatefemale you are spot on, 41.

I love your hair colour

Inappropriatefemale · 19/01/2020 09:10

I hate this hair colour now, want to go blonde but I’ve read so many comments where people think dyed blonde hair ages folk!

LotteLupin · 19/01/2020 09:11

ZoFlo I'd have said 42-46 for you. I think the smoking should stop and the obsessive skincare should begin. You could easily look in your 30s. I started out wondering 36-38.

Remember the smoke is just toxins going into your body. Get angry with the guys making money out of poisoning you. Fuck them. Don't give them a penny more.

OneStepSideways · 19/01/2020 09:12

With filters; about 60.

In the second pic on page before (which is obviously edited as all lines are blurred) I’d say 40-50.

Do you have an unedited pic without heavy make up?
People say I look younger without make up. Foundation tends to settle in lines and eye make up in creases etc.

LotteLupin · 19/01/2020 09:13

Bay you look v good and I'd have said 38-44 but as much because you look very switched on and wise.

U2HasTheEdge · 19/01/2020 09:13

@Inappropriatefemale we have the same hair colour!

You are beautiful btw. NWIH would I post my photo here though. Completely outing and my skin is too thin.

WingBingo · 19/01/2020 09:16

Can I have a go please? How old am I?

can’t believe I am doing this

To ask you to tell me how old I look?
SirChing · 19/01/2020 09:17

WingBingo Mid 30s?

Inappropriatefemale · 19/01/2020 09:18

Thanks for the compliment.

@WingBingo I think your about 38 - 42?

oohnicevase · 19/01/2020 09:19

Cheap blonde dye jobs with roots showing age women not well done gentle highlights .. same as a harsh dark box dye will age you .. Unfortunately as you get older you need a great hairdresser . IMO.

RickOShay · 19/01/2020 09:22

@SirChing
You look like you are a whole lot of fun Grin

WingBingo · 19/01/2020 09:22

I’m 44.

Oh dear @oohnicevase hope you’re not referring to my hair, that cost a lot!!

Mammyloveswine · 19/01/2020 09:22

I'd have said 46ish but you look very thin and imo that can have an aging effect.
