If you serve a custodial sentence for animal cruelty then a lifetime ban should be automatic?
Just watched Dog Rescuers and a man got 80 days - to serve 40 - with just a 7 year ban.
Another case not as bad - but bad enough - no jail but a 10 year ban.
Sick enough to watch and hear the blatant acts of cruelty but leaves a bitter taste hearing the sentences also.
I appreciate prisons are full so not giving out 'time' is explained but surely banning is very appropriate?

YANBU. AngryAngryAngry 80 day sentence with just over a month in custody.
When will people realise that an animals life and wellbeing is every bit as important as a persons. A lot of people forget don’t understand or don’t care that animals love hate, fear, feel anxious. and just a 7 year ban. He should never get less that 500 miles from a dog or any animal let alone be allowed one again. Also how is this policed and checked by dog breeders.
I personally think people wanting pets even if it’s a fish should be fully vetted and police checked.

A 6 month sentence and banned for life from keeping pets is the very least that should have happened.

I read last year that judges have the power to imprison for longer than ever before but they don't seem to do so.
Watching American animal rescue shows they seem much less tolerant of what we seem to just accept.
