To want to know what's in the bag!?

Next door neighbour has taken in a lodger. The lodger is from one of the very.... well known families in the town. Every one of them was the most badly behaved lad in their school year in high school and has continued in that vein into adulthood.

To be fair, apart from the swearing in the garden, which we can ignore because the kids are past the age of playing in the garden and we don't sit in the area next to where they sit... and the odd midnight karaoke session when the house owner is away... they have been no trouble.

For the last few days, on the top of the porch roof, directly under the lodger's window there's been a supermarket carrier bag. I'm intensely curious as to what's in it and why it's been put out of the window onto the porch.
It's still there. AIBU to wonder what's in the bag? What could it be?

One of my au pairs when I was younger used to put her orange juice on the kitchen roof below her bedroom window, until we insisted she was very welcome to use our fridge.

But given it's a not a sweet gap year student wanting practise English, but a rather more...colourful individual, I can't imagine the contents is as innocent.

Might be something grim like rotten rubbish that he cba to take downstairs yet.

Or something smelly he doesn't want everyone to know is in the house. Weed perhaps?

Maybe hes on a health kick and has some fancy yoghurt he doesn't want nicked out the fridge?

Food/milk

BitchyArriver · 18/01/2020 00:28

It’s milk

Lovelylugs · 18/01/2020 00:29

Stinky or wet footwear?

Pingue · 18/01/2020 00:29

My Chinese housemate used to put chicken outside to “cure” for a week or two before eating it. I bet it’s alcohol though.

NextdoorNeighbourIsATwat · 18/01/2020 00:31

Can you throw a stone to knock it down?

NC4Now · 18/01/2020 00:31

Stinky trainers

MashedSpud · 18/01/2020 00:32

Skunk.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 18/01/2020 00:36

I was originally wondering if it was rubbish.

But I'm veering more towards stinky trainers as the bag has stayed put on a breezy day, so nothing insubstantial.

It could, of course, be a bag full of the empties that we hear rattling when he's moving stuff around in his room!

Very tempted to 'accidentally' find it on the lawn somehow, but wouldn't.

Milk. He's got a kettle in his room and can't be arsed to walk downstairs to the fridge.

UnderperformingSeal · 18/01/2020 00:53

This is like a poor man's Pulp Fiction.

1forAll74 · 18/01/2020 01:17

Maybe a body part ! is anyone missing a limb ! or a cat.

melj1213 · 18/01/2020 01:26

When I was younger and lived in a house share I'd often use my Juliet balcony as a personal fridge during winter as it meant things were kept cool, didn't go missing from the communal fridge and I could have a cold can of coke/beer etc whilst procrastinating on Netflix working without having to leave my room.

wellhelloyou · 18/01/2020 01:55

Very common thing in Scotland to hang your beer from the offie out the window at a party to keep it cool as fridge was normally full..

DioneTheDiabolist · 18/01/2020 02:01

I thought this was about CBeebies Baby Club programme. I would really like them to tell me what's in the bag? at the beginning so I can get it sorted before toddler goes hoking.Blush

Gingerkittykat · 18/01/2020 02:05

Do those who are saying weed or skunk know how small a bit of cannabis is? A block of resin or pack of grass will only smell if you hold it to your nose and is easy to keep in a tobacco tin.

I reckon some kind of drinks to keep them cool.

OlaEliza · 18/01/2020 02:11

Not if he's got a kg of it.

willothewispa · 18/01/2020 02:15

If he's from a notorious family then he's hardly going to hang weed outside as an advert for the police. It'll be milk or beer.

Creepster · 18/01/2020 02:26

Food or a drug kit.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 18/01/2020 02:30

Great now I'm obsessed with what's in the carrier too..at 2.30am!

MashedSpud · 18/01/2020 02:32

He could be hiding his stash so other people don’t steal it.

Bluerussian · 18/01/2020 02:59

He probably shot some game and is hanging it outside his bedroom window for a few weeks.

notsodimwit · 18/01/2020 03:01

Right op.... Its dark now so sneak out and climb on the porch roof to get it! Wear some black clothes if possible and also climbing gear if you have that handy... then come back and report what is in the bag Grin you know its the right thing to do! Grin

notsodimwit · 18/01/2020 03:03

Also if they have a security light an air rifle can take them out very easily so you don't get seen Grin
