To ask how Piers Morgan is still on TV

Inspired my another thread, I have to wonder how on Earth this horrible man is still on tv. He creates smear campaigns all the time - currently directed at MM. He is bolshy, misogynous, narrow minded and can't interview people without shouting or talking over them.

He is generally disliked as a presenter but more worryingly his antics in the phone hacking case - how is he allowed such a platform to shout his terrible views from? I know that katie Hopkins and the like stir up controversy and open discussions but with him it's just constant loud, annoying bigotry which very few people seem to agree with or enjoy. Does anyone actually like him?

I remember one story with a mother who had billed another mum because her kids designer shoes got muddy on a play date. Yes it was ridiculous but Morgan absolutely destroyed her on live tv, called her the 'worst type of parent' and reduced her to tears. It was really horrible to watch. She obviously had no idea that was going to happen. Utter utter wanker. much like the AIBU topic then.

nespressowoo · 17/01/2020 20:54

I cannot stand him. Self-entitled twat. The way he is over MM is horrendous, bordering on a little obsessive and crazy.

sandybanana · 17/01/2020 20:55

Haven't read through the thread.

I don't deny he's not arrogant but I do think he talks sense .

I like him! 😁

( runs for cover )

Mum2jenny · 17/01/2020 20:57

Piers Morgan - you love or hate him.

I think he is good as he makes you question your reactions.

I do love his sarcastic wit, and ultimately you either love him or loathe him. But I do love him!

Oakenbeach · 17/01/2020 21:01

It’s not the ‘populists’ like Piers Morgan who generally want to narrow our broadcast media to exclude those who don’t think like them, it’s the liberal elite...

They call out intolerance with accusations of this or that “-ism”, in an attempt to stifle and invalidate any opinions other than theirs, and ironically
it is they who are the intolerant ones!

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 17/01/2020 21:05

I actually like him Blush don't judge too harshly lol.
Although after saying that I have to agree he's being an utter knob over MM, definitely bordering on if not harassment.
Needs to give it a fucking rest and stop banging on about her.
No strong opinion on Royal Family either way, but disgusting how he's treating her.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 17/01/2020 21:21

Because saying White privileged male is not racist is it ? ?

Personally I cannot abide him but all this about he is a privileged white male is a racist thing to say
On here that is applauded . Says it all about Mumsnet

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 17/01/2020 21:22

He is a Grade A Prat though

DM met him once at an awards evening . Said he was arrogant and looked down his nose at most of them .

PortiaCastis · 17/01/2020 21:23

Lawsuits will destroy him.

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 17/01/2020 21:25

I agree. I don't agree with his views but that's not why I hate him, it's his interviewing style. A good interviewer should get information out of their guests and argue around facts, keeping things moving and stopping people repeating themselves etc. He 'debates' with them by basically giving his personal opinion and shoting them down, repeating his point (his own view not facts) louder and louder. I just don't think he is good at his job at all

Lofari · 17/01/2020 21:31

Because he's honest to a fault.....

MGC31 · 17/01/2020 21:33

I don’t generally get to watch him because I have a job.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 17/01/2020 21:48

People on shift work can watch morning telly too.....

MGC31 · 17/01/2020 21:53

I work shifts. I’m either working or asleep from 6-9.

You must work some weird shift times.

Fallsballs · 17/01/2020 22:09

He’s a bully and a wanker imo. I don’t get all this ‘oh he’s so honest’ stuff...no he isn’t, he’s a bitter fuckwit.
Piers Morgan is unnecessary to the human race.

MaxNormal · 17/01/2020 22:14

Honest my arse. He's an offensive twat.

And no, saying white male privilege isn't racist.

Unfortunately out and out racism and bigotry is becoming the norm now, people will even vote one in as PM.

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/01/2020 22:15

Got have at least a few knob heads on the tv.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 17/01/2020 22:17

It Isn’t that he says things others are frightened to. It’s that he says them in a particularly vicious, nasty and arrogant way. Other people say controversial things, but say them more moderately and allow others to have an opinion.

He’s the replacement for Jeremy Kyle. Dumbed down sensationalism for the hard of thinking.

bluebells100 · 17/01/2020 22:26

He’s not that privileged, he works for a living, unlike the bone idle royals. We all like him , he cuts through the crap and says it how it is.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 17/01/2020 22:26

I don’t like him, but I am glad he speaks up about certain issues, like self ID and the ridiculous consequences that would have.

He does not play it safe, and

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 17/01/2020 22:26

At times I actually agree with his views

Fallsballs · 17/01/2020 22:27

Are you his wife bluebells?
And we all don’t like him.

Fallsballs · 17/01/2020 22:28

He’s like a physical manifestation of the sun newspaper.
Average reading age 7

magbob · 17/01/2020 22:32

Can't watch GMB because of him. I'm usually quite easy going but can't cope with him and also can't listen to Steve Wright on Radio 2. Never.

2Rebecca · 17/01/2020 22:35

There are plenty of bland or liberal news presenters if that's what you want. I think it's good to have a variety of presenters, true diversity of opinion not just people who look different but all share the same views. I rarely watch any morning TV but enjoy arguing with Julia HB from Talk Radio my head on the way to work. Much more fun than the Today Programme although her climate stuff is frustrating.
