6 monthly smear

Hey everyone.

Just need a bit of reassurance really.

Had an abnormal smear last year which was cin2 only a tiny area and had to have LLETZ to remove it. I have just had my 6 month smear last week and am now really nervous about the results. Was told by the nurse that the results go based on HPV now which is worrying me that I still have the HPV. And is there going to be any abnormal cells there. Suffer really bad with anxiety and the wait is making me very anxious.

Has anyone been through this before and had a clear result after the 6 months?

I had to have 6 monthly smears for 2 years. I had severe cell changes which were removed by LLetz. All of the smears were clear so please try not to worry.

@PercythePile I was ok until I googled stuff now I panicking. The nurse was lovely I saw but because I've never gone through this before panicking it's going to come back like before. X

Please try not to worry. You will have regular testing so if there are further changes then they will be picked up early and treatment can be given. In my area it can take upto 10 weeks for results to come back so I can appreciate its horrible having to wait.

HPV can go dormant and then come back. You may be tested and it is HPV negative, I believe now that if the samples are negative then no further testing is done. A few years down the line, the HPV may be back.

Just make sure you go to all your screenings, if anything is found it can be treated in a timely manner.

@PercythePile also they've changed how they test now don't they? How long did you have to wait for your results hun? X

@PercythePile ignore last message. Thanks for your reply. Well I hope for it to not come back at all if my test result is negative but I understand what your saying. Just get very paranoid. Don't want to end up with anything bad xx

Try not to worry. I only had to wait a couple of weeks for the results after the 6 month smear and it came back all good (I had cin3 before the lletz procedure)

@MegaClutterSlut was that ur first abnormal smear if you don't mind me asking. I've been reading only that when they remove the abnormal area they take HPV virus with it. Is this true? Did u get told that. Xx
