No, gold is still popular as a crown material. It's thinner than porcelain, meaning less tooth needs removing during preparation, and is stronger so won't chip or fracture.

Definitely gold.

I have gold, I grind my teeth at night which is why the tooth is damaged and in need of a crown. It's much stronger than porcelain and people rarely see it as it's so far back. I've had it 15 years.

These days it's less of a yellow gold. Gold lasts longer too.

I used to be a dentist and I would have Gold over porcelain.

Ive got two gold crowns and a gold inlay. Must have had them for ten years and not a spot of bother and I don’t think anyone else can see them.

Gold is the way to go

Dentist: gold is lovely and lasts a very long time.

No one will see the back teeth. Go for gold

I have one gold crown at lower side of jaw. I had it done 46 years ago. Has never given me any trouble. My other crowns are porcelain and after 23 years have started to fail.
