Paying adult price for 2 year old

I am going on a big family holiday with around 15 people and staying in a large house. The person organising it (my mums partner’ has charge me, boyfriend and 2 year old daughter £200 each, and daughter will also have to sleep on a sofa bed! There is also a day trip paid for adult tickets are £26, under 4’s free and yet nothing has been taking off for that.
Is it really worth moany about? Money isn’t a massive issue but it’s the Principle that really annoyed me!

Should I bring it up? Or just leave it

Is she the only child? Do all the other adults have a bed?
I don’t think you should pay the same, particulary for the day trip but I’m not sure how you should work it... personally I would
Charge a two year old but not sure where you draw the line.

FWIW I was going to go an a trip with friends and they wanted to work it per family... there is 3 of us and one family had 5 child why should I pay the same amount as them.. so I said no.

That doesn’t sound fair at all. In a house situation, I’d personally split by room and then add on any day trip costs. I wouldn’t be paying £26 if the child was going to be free.

If the child was sleeping in the bed with you then I wouldn’t expect a fee for them. It’s tricky if the child is taking up a spare bed (even if a sofa bed), if that spot could have gone to an adult as the additional split brings cost down for everyone.

There will be three children going one is 6 who is also paying £200 and one will be 10 months at time of travel and isn’t pay anything , both other children are my nephews

I probably wouldn't bring up the paying for the trip but I'd certainly bring up the day trip if under 4's go free

It sounds like he's taken the total cost and divided it by the total number of people staying in the house (and included the children in the numbers but not the baby). You could ask him to reprice it by the number of rooms (assuming your child is staying in the same room as you) but it would probably come to the same?

Don't pay £26.00 for the trip though if under 4 is free. He's maybe not realised kids don't pay adult prices?!

I Think he would realised but just split costs between everyone so each Person was paying a bit less. Part of the £200 is for food too so hard to know exactly where costs have gone.

Could you suggest that the 6 and 2 year olds pay half the amount if food etc in that too, that seems fairer. It would be about £20 more per adult, sure no one would be that bothered about that. The trip should definitely not be paid for, just say oh you don’t need to pay for under 4s so you don’t need to pay for my child.

Food too? So you're paying the same for your two year old as for an adult? That's crazy! Children should pay half adult rates.

YANBU. They are being cheeky. I think maybe a token £50 contribution might be a nice thing to do, but that’s really not on and you should speak now. Also mention the day out (as in well it will only be paying £26 x 2 as DD is free I’ve checked).

Firstly is the 2 yo sharing your room?
It's not.really.about beds its about rooms for accommodation costs normally.
The day trip thing is unacceptable as your child is free.
How can he know food costs ahead of time?
Surely that would be worked out and slit at the time or taken in turns to pay.
I think someone had to.sit down with him and work it out together.

Yes food too! And daughter can’t eat dairy so will probably have to by her some alternatives myself

Not Really sure how he has come up with a price on food. I’ve kind of just gone with it, should have questioned it straight away.

She will be in my room yes, we have a double bed and a single sofa bed.

Thinks are never going to work out exactly, and be perceived as 'fair' by everyone, but I think that is why you ask the questions before committing to the trip and it just spoils it if you are resenting paying for things, or fuming because someone else is perceived to not be contributing as much. Everyone will have different ideas and 'presume' everyone thinks like them ~ even down to the type and amount of food you buy and what is covered. If he thinks it is right that your little one is paying the same as an adult for food, then give him a list of the dairy alternatives(usually more expensive) that she will need.
The rooms / beds is one that is often asked on here and there is no 'right' answer.

You should not pay for the day trip for 2 year old, but if she is taking a bed an adult could take, then yes you should pay the same for that as an adult. If you were hiring a cottage just for your family you would not get a discount if a child is sleeping on a bed rather than an adult.

Alternatively ask to be allocated a small bedroom and have the 2 year old in your bed.
A hotel room with a double bed and sofa bed costs more than a smaller one with a double bed.

Just text back that you think kids should be half price and don’t want to pay for the trip. Keep it friendly and polite, but don’t let him walk over you.

When we’ve sorted trips like these out kids don’t pay at all!

I wouldn't want to pay the same for an adult and a 2 year old.
