To think the fact this teacher has been allowed to continue in the profession is very wrong and very worrying

teacher comments on girls breasts

I am really uncomfortable with this decision. It seems completely wrong to me.

Yanbu.
I can't believe it.

Even if, as he he claims, it wasn't sexual he has still shown a massive error of judgement by seeing a pupil as a 'friend' and has clearly shown that he is not suitable to be in a position of trust working with potentially vulnerable children.

One would hope that even though he hasn't been struck off that no school would employ him now.

Bluerussian · 14/01/2020 20:27

Seriously dodgy. You're not unreasonable.

Mockers2020Vision · 14/01/2020 20:31

Fuck no, you are not their friend.

Needmorecaffine · 14/01/2020 20:40

Not banned from teaching but his reference would be crap

LuvMyBoyz · 14/01/2020 20:45

Every safeguarding rule going was broken. I wouldn’t want to work with him, never mind having my child anywhere near him. Teachers are told time and time again that private contact is not appropriate.

SarahTancredi · 14/01/2020 20:45

Yanbu

I'm.confused by the 9 percent who think you are though

Hes a disgusting perv

Hassled · 14/01/2020 20:48

That's just gobsmacking. What an awful decision.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 14/01/2020 20:49

I cannot for the life of me think of any reason why he should be allowed to continue to teach.

DeltaFlyer · 14/01/2020 20:50

Agree with luvmyboyz I would refuse to work with someone who made those choices

Needmorecaffine · 14/01/2020 20:53

Any school that would now employ him I would have serious concerns about their safer recruitment process.

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/01/2020 20:58

Not sexual my arse. What a disgusting case.

BilboBercow · 14/01/2020 20:59

The fact that they acceptable it wasn't sexual is an absolute joke
It was classic grooming

ohwheniknow · 14/01/2020 21:01

Disturbing but doesn't surprise me.

turkeyontheplate · 14/01/2020 21:03

God, our young girls really don't matter at all, do they?

Utterly depressing.

Doggybiccys · 14/01/2020 21:04

YANBU, it’s like we’ve been transported back to the 70s. Clearly he needs to actually molest someone before getting struck off.

BetBetteBetty · 14/01/2020 21:10

It’s disturbing. It’s also disturbing people have voted YABU Confused

JemimaPuddleCat · 14/01/2020 21:29

Imagine that was a female teacher to a male student:

"Your head is tiny, your cock looks enormous, and I can see up your nostrils."

“why did I get so distracted when you were sat in front of me in a tight top having just taken your jumper off!"

“maybe I only miss your magic fingers"

Disgusting, of course it was sexual. She'd have been struck off.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 14/01/2020 21:35

I know of teachers who have been prohibited from teaching for less. It never fails to astound me how stupid some so called professionals can be.

BlouseAndSkirt · 14/01/2020 22:18

WTAF???

I could understand a certain level of naive inappropriateness, but The comments about shirt skirt / legs tights Shock !!!!

And the stuff about ‘men can’t help themselves around you’ is an appalling message to give to a young woman. It is a man’s responsibility from beginning to end to ‘help himself’ , not a girl’s responsibility for her skirt length. Angry

Disgraceful.

How many years of feminism and it is still only a temporary ban on a male teacher who pulls this shit?

cabbageking · 14/01/2020 22:27

I can't image a school wanting to employ him.

He has been dismissed for this so any reference will reflect this.

MrsBungle · 14/01/2020 22:32

The article mentions “exceptional mitigating factors”. I wonder what on Earth those are?! He’s highly unlikely to get a job in another school when references are given.

Haggisfish · 14/01/2020 22:34

Horrendous.

AnyFucker · 14/01/2020 22:36

"His actions were not sexual"

Utter bollocks

manicinsomniac · 14/01/2020 22:43

Totally bizarre. Just from the article there are so many things that would normally prohibit him from getting a job in a school again. He:

exchanged numbers with a vulnerable pupil, and tapped her on the bottom. The panel heard how the pupil took a photo of herself on his phone and when he saw it, he told her "your head is tiny, your breasts look enormous and I can see up your nostrils". In texts and messages to the pupil he wrote: “why did I get so distracted when you were sat in front of me in a short skirt having just taken your tights off!".

It's an astonishing decision but probably just a technicality. He might be allowed to teach but I can't see a school employing him.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 14/01/2020 22:47

I’ve said this before on here and don’t want to be “that” poster who always wheels out a story, but I am unshockable about these things at this point: I had a sexual relationship with one of my teachers. I was over the age of consent but under 18. It was before, during and after the 2003 law change. We were together for almost 6 years (in secret for the most part). When I was 22 we broke up and the school found out (not from me- he confided in a colleague. He had left me and said there was no one else but there was, she was 17 and in the sixth form. He thought this colleague was trustworthy.... idiot). The school persuaded him to resign but gave him a decent reference. He is still teaching to this day. God knows how many more girls he’s slept with since (I’m heading towards 40! He’s had almost 20 more years to pull this shit).

Sadly even in this day and age, even in the midst of #MeToo and everyone apparently agreeing this stuff is wrong, there are a lot of people, schools and unions included, who think that teenage girls are “asking for it” when it comes to them being groomed by their (adult and male) teachers. In fact, I was told by a police officer when I finally reported him (aged almost 30 by then, and having had a lot of therapy) that “you were a pretty young thing and it sounds like you fancied him. What was he meant to do?”
