Hormonal , emotional , starving pregnant woman here . I’m just over 7 weeks, suffering really bad with nausea and vomiting . Signed off work. It comes in waves and I’m having a ‘safe’ period at the moment . I’m bloody STARVING hungry , my stomach is growling and it genuinely feels empty ,almost hollow . I’ve been living of crisps and the occasional cracker for what must be almost two weeks now . Lost some weight and dr has prescribed me some meds To help the sickness .
Anyway my question is please tell me what to eat !! I’m starving but just don’t know what I want and my mum has rang me and said she’ll get me some bits from the shop as she wants to pop in and see me as she’s been concerned . I’m thinking a sandwich of some sort and maybe some jelly but my god I can’t even think of any foods that exist it’s been so long since I’ve eaten . What would you eat if you were starving but pregnant and nauseas ?
Throw some ideas at me that I can read and I will hopefully fancy one of them ! 😭

I just ate a mouthful of cereal most days and for some reason I could stomach fish much better than meat (as long as I didn’t have to cook or prepare it) so tuna sandwiches and salt and vinegar crisps went down well. Tuna is limited due to the mercury though so I only had that twice a week Sad

Tinned peaches, cheese and citrus fizzy drinks (lemonade, lilt etc - I got sick of ginger beer quite fast!) were what I lived on for about 6 weeks.

olivertwistwantsmore · 14/01/2020 13:30

Plain things - plain pasta, toast, oatcakes, digestive biscuits, etc. Hope you feel better soon!

DontCallMeShitley · 14/01/2020 13:41

Apples, good for digestion but helped that I liked them. Rich Tea biscuits, toast with ginger preserve or lemon marmalade no butter or spread. Sainsburys sell a ginger preserve, not sure about the lemon marmalade as I've not seen it for ages but have seen a lemon conserve in the French jams section.
Plain grated carrot, lettuce/leaves in a sandwich with no dressings.
I didn't have much protein for a good few weeks, couldn't digest it.

Try boiled potatoes with lots of bisto chicken gravy (DS)

Or

Those flat chicken and mushroom slices you get in the processed bit of the supermarket fridges (DD)

Another vote for mini cheddars!

Granola and yoghurt, digestive biscuits, toast was pretty much my diet for the first 3 months.
Anything vegetarian (went totally off meat) and bland was good.

Maybe mashed potatoes with cheese?

caperplips · 14/01/2020 15:01

salty crispy chips!

HakunaMatataa · 14/01/2020 18:14

I had HG my whole pregnancy it was awful so I really feel for you. Ready salted crisps for the win for me. Not the most nutritious but they helped. Ginger nuts are good. Toast. To be honest nothing really stayed down anyway so I just ate what I wanted.

Thanks girls . Certain colours are really triggering me , I tried a banana and it seems anything yellow makes me feel worse so I had to get mum to take it out the skin for me when she was here !
Crackers have been good and so are crisps . I managed a chicken wrap and more crisps and some cola flavoured sweets . That’s the most I’ve eaten since 5th jan . @HakunaMatataa I feel for you also . My dr said he thinks I’m almost on the verge of that but I said I’ve not been sick enough to justify that diagnosis . But it’s pretty darn grim . I’m due to go back to work Thursday and part of me wants to go back so I don’t look like I’m taking the mickey but equally can’t even bare the thought of staring at a computer all day

The only thing I used.to be as to keep down was McDonald's big Mac's Blush

Mominatrix · 14/01/2020 19:22

Flat regular coke and salt and vinegar crisps (get in sugar, water, acid, and salt which you are vomiting up and flat coke does help nausea).

eat little and often

ginger and lemon tea with honey

make sure you are getting protein (chicken breast, eggs)

they have pressure point bracelets at chemists used for motion sickness which really helped with my morning (all day)sickness.

Obligatorync · 14/01/2020 19:23

I lived off tinned peaches for 3 weeks once.

Megan2018 · 14/01/2020 19:24

Chicken nuggets and cold McD’s chips worked for me. With original lucozade.

Bubblysqueak · 14/01/2020 22:28

That makes sensemominatrix coke was.the.only liquid I could keep down when pregnant, I did worry about caffeine though so had the caffeine free coke.
