What do I do?!

I hurt my leg in December. I have weak knees and hypermobile joints. Anyway i fell in a supermarket on NYE and dislocated my knee. It was excruciating. I was in so much pain. Went to A&E and got some painkillers, crutches and a splint. Gp then referred me to fracture clinic in early jan after my pain hasn't gone.

My knee keeps giving way and the pain is horrendous, it feels better when my foot is in contact with the floor not when it's in the air.

Anyway. Fracture clinic is on Friday this week because of waiting delays etc, and my dog ran out the door today and I had no choice but to run after him. As I caught him something on the other side and behind my knee snapped and I threw up and fainted in the toad which was totally embarrassing. Now I have pain all round my knee cap, behind my knee cap and up my leg into my bum :(

Do I go back to A&E tomorrow? Can't get there tonight as It's my clutch foot and I can't drive, and taxis stop at about 12 during the week (rural area) or just wait and stay with it elevated until Friday?

Call a bloody ambulance. It sounds like you've damaged a tendon.

FeralBeryl · 14/01/2020 00:58

Oh you poor thing, can you ring the GP I n the morning for some advice?

managedmis · 14/01/2020 00:59

lonelonelylost · 14/01/2020 01:16

Cruciate ligament tear? Get to a and e

SleepWarrior · 14/01/2020 01:21

Oh that sounds horrendous. Definitely to a&e any way you can, you've had a nasty accident and are in a lot of pain. If there aren't any taxis or lifts from friends/family available then ambulance seems logical. You may have to wait though.

NewYoiker · 14/01/2020 01:30

The dog was fine!! I rugby tackled the sod before he played chicken on the main road. I had my hand on his collar when I fainted and threw up on myself. Blush

Do you think he looks sorry enough? 😂🤦‍♀️

What do I do?!

Ice your knee, compression bandage and elevate!

I had used to regularly dislocate my knee cap while a Teen.
I found getting the fluid/swelling drained my my knee helped a lot. (Find a good sports physio)

How are you doing? I hope they’ve given you some pain relief .
Gorgeous dog , what’s his name ?

yearinyearout · 14/01/2020 07:39

When my knee gave way after twisting it, it turned out to be a torn cruciate ligament, only the doctors fobbed me off for a year with "it's probably just a bit of torn cartilage".

HerRoyalFattyness · 14/01/2020 07:41

How are you OP?

cheeseislife8 · 14/01/2020 07:49

NewYoiker · 14/01/2020 10:48

His name is Colin 😂 I'm waiting for surgery.. needs pins in my leg, I've broken the bottom bit of my femur, and snapped all the ligaments now which means they need wiring into place instead of a big ol brace
