Should MN have post voting: likes/dislikes to help save people rewriting the same stuff?

Vote Yes or No

Just had a thought...it would save pages and pages of posts, if someone has replied with pretty much what you were going to write you'd simply like. If you thought it rude or unhelpful you'd dislike it?

Sorry YABU for No
YANBU for Yes

I would love a like button.

ilovesooty · 13/01/2020 20:17

No thank you. I like to see posters put thought into their responses.

Retroflex · 14/01/2020 03:20

So basically you want Mumsnet to be more like Facebook? You know, mindlessly clicking like or angry face reactions...

Nottobesniffedat · 14/01/2020 03:58

Yes.
It would save people clogging up threads with re-quoting such as
^ This
Also the dislikes can alert Mumsnet to trolls or inappropriate comments.

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 14/01/2020 04:02

I'd LOVE a like button on MN! Grin

Hell no.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/01/2020 04:09

But there could be a search facility to check if a subject has been covered before.

Many times.

Oh hang on ...

I don’t think it’s the subject that the OP’s talking about. It’s the comments afterwards, Ie cancel the cheque, people would just like it rather commenting fifty trillion times ‘cancel the cheque’!

littlepaddypaws · 14/01/2020 06:18

a lot of posts rehash what has already been said before the add a bit on and gradually yanbu response becomes yabvu, because pp haven't rtft

Yes. It's obvious that's what the OP means.

I don’t think it’s the subject that the OP’s talking about.

I think JayAlfredPrufrock was referring to the fact that the subject of a "Like/Dislike" facility has been covered many times before.

Sorry if I've misunderstood you, JAP.
Hope I haven't because I thought your comment was amusing.

Marnie76 · 14/01/2020 06:25

Oh, oops sorry totally misread that LaMarsh you’re right, it’s too early in the morning.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/01/2020 10:36

Yes. The like button has been discussed ad infinitum.

CopperAndGold · 14/01/2020 10:40

Ad nauseam, more like!
