New Headteachers craziest rules

Last September we were appointed a new headteacher at my child's primary school. A few feathers have been ruffled and long standing school traditions abandoned. Today my child has come home and informed me of the latest crazy rule, all children are to wear their coats whilst eating their dinner as the head does not want children in the corridors after eating. AIBU in thinking this is batshit crazy and that children will undoubtedly be uncomfortable and too hot ? I'd love nothing more than to get the headteacher to sit and follow her own stupid rule.

Many schools can't afford extra supervisors to patrol corridors. The few they have are needed in the playground and lunch hall. And the teaching staff and and headteacher are entitled to lunch breaks too. It's an imperfect solution, but it's probably all they can do. Regarding the eat everything on your plate rule, I've got a very strong feeling that's another case of miscommunication too, despite people piling in with childhood anecdotes. Schools are not the same places as they were 20 or 30 years ago, for good or ill.

I wouldn’t be so sure downton

The head at dd’s old primary confirmed to parents that children who finished their whole plate were rewarded by immediately being sent out to play and the rest had to wait until they had.

Should say dd is still at primary, albeit a different primary, so this isn’t long ago!
