What car seat does your nine year old have?

If at all? My dd is 4ft11 so height wise I think fine without anything. At the moment she's got a backed booster for motorway driving and a backless booster for short trips. Is she ok on a normal seat now? I'm finding online info quite conflicting.

This is what you should follow www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules

How does the seatbelt fit without a seat?
Legally she doesn't need anything. Practically, it may not be comfortable or 100% safe without one.

(My 8yo varies between HbB and cushion.)

Yes she would be fine. She needs to be 135 cm tall so about 4ft 5 or 12 years old, whichever comes first. My eldest uses a booster and he is over the legal height, just out of habit. But when I recently hired a car there was a measuring wall and I had to measure him against it to find out if I needed to hire a booster for him and I didn't.

I suppose at this stage it's about comfort. Seat belts are designed for men so even at 5 foot 4 I find the seat belt a bit uncomfortable.

My almost 10 year old hasn't had a seat for over a year because he was well over the height requirement and it was hurting his shoulders!

She’s easily tall enough to not use anything. If she’s over 36kg she should not use a booster as they’re only up to 36kg. If she’s under that weigh you can choose to use one or not.
I find it very surprising that she still fits in a high back booster though. Is her head not above the head support?

She weighs 4st 12. Sounds like it's not needed now.
