Is it just me, or is anyone else not good enough for posh toiletries?

Aibu in thinking posh toiletries are wasted on me, and re-gifting them or giving them to a raffle or charity shop so someone proper can enjoy them?

I was given a few sets for Christmas. I was having a bath the other day, without a small child for once, and I thought for a second about putting one of the bath bombs in for a bit of luxury. But then I thought no, that'd be wasting it! Someone could enjoy that!

I feel a bit like the opposite of the loreal ad. I'm not worth it! Is it just me?!

Yanbu: Give the stuff to someone else
Yabu: waste use them on myself

In Little House on the Prairie Laura's ma says that the reason they use the good china every day is 'because it's for special people, not special occasions'.

You're the special person, every day.

This sounds like it is about how you value yourself.
You have as much right to nice things as anyone else. Used them and enjoy them.

I find your op said, of course you are worth it! Stop putting everyone else first.

I made a real effort to stop hoarding stuff for best and it’s much better! I’ll always use whatever I think is the nicest stuff first. What if I get hit by a bus before I’d got to the fancy bath oil!

It's so sad to see so many people who think they don't deserve the good stuff. I'm telling you, you do! You are just as deserving on a long soak in something that smells delicious as anyone else.

I always use nice stuff, even more so on ordinary days because if I'm spending my day doing something boring and mundane I'm jolly going to smell nice while I do it. I'm might be buying potatoes or wrangling spreadsheets but I smell like a little slice of heaven.

Definitely you are worth a bit of luxury, comfort and pampering!

I think maybe in my post-student years when money was tight, I'd save things for a 'rainy day' but now I tear open the packaging the minute I get something new and use it right away - clothes, toiletries, dinnerware, you name it. I did almost die unexpectedly in a botched hospital procedure several years ago. Perhaps that sharpened the mind Grin

I always find it sad looking at the items in charity shops that clearly came from elderly people's house clearances - Fine china tea sets with not a scratch or dent from being displayed in cabinets and never used. Museaum pieces. No danger of any of my stuff being given to charity after I die. It will be used up and enjoyed and ready for the skip, just like me.

I always use my toiletry gift sets. I only got one for Christmas this year and I was very disappointed.

And like a few other posters, Clarins Eau Dynamisante is my signature body care, always gives me a lift and the fragrance is so calming. That and £22 Diptyque soap for my morning bath. Hell yeah, I'm worth it! Self-love and self-care come first.
