PARKING THREAD - Courage needed because I'm a wimp

Hello mumsnetters.

I know I will come across as a wimp and need to put my big girl pants on so would appreciate your encouragement.

My car is the blue one on the picture. Some unknown has parked as the green car. The area for parking is all open like a courtyard type arrangement but the attached is the Land Registry plan showing I own the entire strip. There is a covenant that I can't block access. My partner is coming over later and usually parks behind my car. He can't whilst that car is there.

It would mean me knocking on doors to find out the owner which, well I'm not a person who likes confrontation.

I am aware people park there during the day or stop there during the day to unload shopping or similar which doesn't affect me as I'm at work so have let it go and not said anything. Now though it does affect me.

Please lend me your courage.

the police will then phone whoever owns the registration plate and tell them to move

Only do this if:

A) you are living in the 1950s, in which case the car owner won't have a mobile phone but a nice officer in a ford anglia will trundle along to the owners previous address and sort something out.

B) you are registered with your local police station as the partner of the local Chief Constable of the County

C) you are prepared to wait while they deal with other slightly more important issues, like burglaries, muggings, armed robbery, RTAs, missing children, murders, and lost dogs.

Can't your partner park there too and block them? They can then do the leg work knocking on doors.

I live in a small village and parking is very limited. I own the cobbles outside my door, but customers from the pub regularly parked there. Drove me mad! I now use a parking cone, and I’ve noticed that others have started doing the same. Could be worth you considering it, OP.

You don't need to be confrontational about it. Simply knock on the door with a smile

'hiya it's petty from number 3, you don't happen to know who's the green ford is? It's blocking my driveway and I can't get out, I'm also expecting visitors later too' 'oh that's ok, if it's your visitors, if they could move it when they get 5 mins I'd appreciate it, thanks have a good weekend, been

@hallohallohallo get a lockable bollard at the end of your drive so you pull off. lock the bollard and no-one else cam park there when you're not there.

This type, there are loads of outlets for them
