I am currently a teacher but I am feeling a bit stuck, with not much more room for movement... I am also an experienced and qualified nanny, and there is an opportunity for a very well paid (more than twice my salary) rota position, working 1 week on 1 week off... the position is in a different area of the country to where I live with my wife and my dog, where we also own our house.

She has said she wouldnt mind me doing it as yes, I would be away for a week, but then I would be back for a week... and before we have children would be an ideal time to do this to really maximise our earnings, finish our renovating our house, pay off finance and credit cards and put a good amount in to savings (we will be relying on IVF to have children so will need a fair amount of money saved for this)

I suppose my aibu is would it work? or is it a really silly idea?!

Suppose it would work if it was guaranteed that the employers would keep to the week on week off arrangement and not decide to change things during to the course of the employment and they provided accommodation for the week you were there.

Sounds like a good idea to me depending though on the cost of travel and accommodations.

There would be no cost for the accommodation as it is a live in position and to get there and back depending on how would be less than £75...

I'm worried it would be too hard being away from wife and darling dog though, but not worried about our relationship if that makes sense
