I was in hospital recently and was chatting to a student nurse about her studies. I'm a nurse, myself and it really brought home to me the fact that Universities's nursing courses are so different.
A few examples: her final year drugs calculation exam only needed a 90% pass and less in earlier years. Mine needed a 100% pass even in the first year. She had a considerably smaller number of assignments and exams than I had, her practical exams were carried out on fellow students - I did mine on members of the public and also did a VIVA (oral exam). She had a lot of self-study time and less actual lectures/classes and a chunk of placement time was completed by doing practical work at University. Her skills book was also completely different to mine.
