As title explains, first time buyers in our 30's. Totally green! Spotted a house we like but needs quite a bit of work that we would have to do room by room or what funds allowed. We think it's about £25,000 overpriced for what needs doing. How cheeky were some of your offers?! Thank you. (Worth noting we are down south where local family homes sell for between £200,000-£350,000 3 to 4 bed)

My first home was vacant and on the market for a year at 140k, reduced to 135, offered 118k moved to 122k - it needed a new thatched roof. Sold. It a few years later put it on the market prices to sell 180k and got a 179 & 176 offer on day 1 took the 176 as it was cash.
Offered full asking on my current house 53k (shared ownership), while I was stood in their hallway as I was the first to view and there were other viewings later in the day.

Sounds great! I'd love to see some of these places. It's so interesting seeing the difference in prices across the country too. Some are staggering!

Ours was offers over £45k. We paid £45.5k.

Was 20 years ago mind. An identical one just sold that was on the market for offers over £85k but back before the banking mess they were going for £100-110k.

(3 bed mid terrace ex council really nice part of town in west central Scotland)

When I bought my flat it was offers over 85k. I offered 87k. Was rejected at first, then they discovered Japanese knotweed in the garden. After some investigation it turned out that the section of land it was on is owned by the LA and they were dealing with it, plus it was far enough away from the building that the bank were happy to give me a mortgage. EA said they were happy to accept my offer in light of this. I was pretty happy to get it for 2k over, it would have gone for a lot more but for the knotweed!
