First time post but regular lurker. Feeling bad because I confronted our neighbour about his dog. Was I wrong? We live in a fairly quiet cul de sac. Neighbour has a dog and regularly stands out the front on the road and on another neighbours garden with the dog. The dog is off the lead and runs or walks about on the road and on gardens including ours. This has been happening for about a year.
During this time the dog has run through our side gate into our back garden when our gate had accidentally come open (know this due to cctv). We have also seen dog poo on our lawn and on next doors lawn (2 different neighbours). No proof it was this dog but it seems likely.
Anyway it does irritate me but I've kept quiet to keep the peace. I like dogs, and I think it's unfair not to give the dog a proper walk. Also where the dog is on the road there is a danger it will get hit by a delivery van taking the corner too quickly. Anyway this came to a head last weekend. Dh was helping me bring shopping in, dog ran onto our garden and Dh shooed him off. Neighbour shouted at Dh to 'leave him alone, he' s not doing any harm'. Dh said 'I don't want your dog on my garden'. The following day I was cleaning windows and the dog ran over our garden. I opened the window and shouted at the neighbour to get the dog off our garden. Neighbour pont blank ignored me and turned away. I went over to talk to him on pavement and he just shooed me away and told me not to talk to him'. To be honest it's made me really cross. He just seems really entitled. But I'm probably being petty and life is too short. What would you do? I'm not very good at confrontation and I don't want to fall out with the other neighbours or make too big a deal of things.
