X-ray on knee tomorrow

So I saw the doctor today, fell right on my knee 3 weeks ago and although it’s ok if I kneel on it the pain is excruciating. I just wondered what happens after the X-ray with the results? What happens if it is fractured?

Trainee radiographer here. You will probably be referred to a fracture clinic. It really depends on what type of fracture it is.

HedgeHogFoxBadger · 09/01/2020 20:08

Fingers crossed it’s not fractured but was just wondering what happens if they find a fracture although the results get sent back to gp?

If there is an obvious fracture they will get you to attend a&e or minor injuries to treat it (not for further xrays). If warranted

If there is not a fracture immediately evident, but picked up through a qualified person reading and giving results, they will get in touch with your GP. If general wear and tear/
or nothing urgent then results will take standard time

I'm a radiographer. If they see a fracture, you'll be sent straight to A&E. It's pretty hard to walk around for a few weeks with a fractured knee so fingers crossed that won't be the case Smile. Hope you're feeling better soon Flowers

Sounds like bursitis

KarmaStar · 09/01/2020 22:09

slipperywhensparticus · 09/01/2020 22:11

HedgeHogFoxBadger · 10/01/2020 13:26

How’s your knee now? Did the X-ray show something? I haven’t been able to put wait on my knee whilst kneeling for a year now. I went to Physio who have me exercises to do and said it was due to my back problems and my muscles had wasted away. I don’t think so. I can run, jump, twist etc with no pain yet when I kneel it feels like I’ve knelt on a piece of Lego!

Lauragriff sounds exactly like housemaid's knee. Google it. Never kneeling on a hard surface (I used to use a gardening foam pad around the house) and acupuncture helped me.
