To ask mumsnet to move all Royal Family threads..

All brexit threads were quickly moved from AIBU to the brexit dark corner.

AIBU to ask that all the Royal Family threads are moved to the Royal Family corner. It is not nearly as important as Brexit and it's littering up AIBU so the same rule should apply.

You could just not open them.

MelroseHigginbottom · 09/01/2020 13:49

Oh they probably will. MN is hyper-vigilant with making things they personally don't agree with disappear.

ShirleyPhallus · 09/01/2020 13:49

Oh god yes please, why does no one look for other threads before starting new ones?!

This one can go too Wink

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2020 13:50

Just one thread would be good. They all basically say the same thing.

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2020 13:52

YY @ShirleyPhallus, a quick AS takes seconds.

Theworldisfullofgs · 09/01/2020 13:52

I'd be happy for this to go to the royal family corner Grin

YANBU as long as we can also get all the "I can't be arsed to Google it" and "I really should see a doctor but instead I'm going to get the internet to diagnose me" rubbish off AIBU as well.

Theworldisfullofgs · 09/01/2020 13:54

Yes that would be good too

OP posts:
TheCanterburyWhales · 09/01/2020 13:55

As others have said, there's this fantastic rule on MN that it's ok not to read every thread on every subject.
Where da fuck do you find the time to read everything?

MaggieFS · 09/01/2020 13:55

I've just hidden them, to remove the clutter!

picklemepopcorn · 09/01/2020 13:56

But that's an ongoing task, Maggie! Every second thread at the moment.

TanteRose · 09/01/2020 13:58

OMG yes please!
I cannot stand how everything these days is in AIBU Confused

BlaueLagune · 09/01/2020 14:12

If you don't want to read, don't read. You can just scroll past.

Having all the Brexit threads exiled was a pain, please don't do it with any other topics.

ohprettybaby · 09/01/2020 14:16

What about the fact that many AIBU threads are relationship-related? Shouldn't they be moved to 'Relationships'?

What about all those starting 'posting here for traffic'? Shouldn't they be moved elsewhere?

ssd · 09/01/2020 14:18

Och, I was really enjoying all the Harry threads, oh sorry Megxit as it hilariously being called...

ShirleyPhallus · 09/01/2020 14:34

If you don't want to read, don't read. You can just scroll past.

But “active threads” on a mobile is limited to about 30 threads. When 8 of them are stickied threads from MNHQ on important topics such as “what did our taste testers think of these new yoghurts”, then another 15 are threads on conception / new babies / S&B / threads you have no interest on, then it only leaves a small number or potentially interesting threads.

To have another 8 of those used up on what is literally exactly the same discussion (“i love Meg!” “I hate meg!” “You’re racist!” “No I’m not!” “They’re spongers!” “Piers Morgan is right!”) then you have nothing else left on active threads

katzenellenbogen · 09/01/2020 14:34

What about all those starting 'posting here for traffic'? Shouldn't they be moved elsewhere?

Yes - absolutely!

Somewhat ironically, this is the second thread about this Grin

BlaueLagune · 09/01/2020 14:36

I don't use the mobile app, and I don't use the active threads list, either, I use the AIBU list or the chat list or the style & beauty list or education or whatever topic I want to look at.

I get bored with the constant threads about P&C spaces, buggies on buses and people who recline seats on planes, but I just don't read them.

iklboo · 09/01/2020 14:38

What about all those starting 'posting here for traffic'? Shouldn't they be moved elsewhere?

We should have a section called Posting For Traffic Grin

chocolatemademefat · 09/01/2020 14:41

We all get bored of certain topics but we learn to scroll past. Get over yourself.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 09/01/2020 14:44

We should have a section called Posting For Traffic Grin

Yes, hidden away Grin

CardiFree · 09/01/2020 14:44

I'm with you OP.

Never mind opening them. The amount of thread titles alone are making me question my vision.
Couldn't get remotely worked up about what H & Megs are up to, what's with the multiple threads? People are so invested it's bizarre.

katzenellenbogen · 09/01/2020 14:46

Yes, we can all scroll past, but when every other thread is about exactly the same thing then it gets tedious.

If you have a burning desire to discuss something that has just been reported in the news, maybe just have a look first to see if it is already being discussed.

Theworldisfullofgs · 09/01/2020 15:16

Sorry I thought the megxit one was another thread discussing the merits of them going or not! So I scrolled past...

My point is more, why every Brexit thread was zapped to another space, why not these?

OP posts:
katzenellenbogen · 09/01/2020 15:24

I only opened it as it was in "site stuff" not AIBU, but yeah, it's easy to just decide to hide them all - even the ones with sneaky titles to trick us into thinking they are about something else Grin
