I want to create a slideshow of photos and movies with a specific song for my Father's birthday in a few months. I used to use Windows Movie Maker but that seems to have vanished! Does anyone know of any good apps or anything I can do this with?

Try MovieMaker Online, which is kind of an (ad heavy, slightly annoying) version of WMM. You can upload music and stuff, and make slideshows.

If you've got a Mac, then you've got iMovie right there in the apps so you can crack on with some "free" software.
