To want a firm but not mind blowingly expensive pillow?

I've had so many and hated them all. I like a hotel fat and firm pillow but haven't found one I like to buy.
Recommend me one? Please? Thank you!!

Define mind blowingly expensive? I always get Dunlopillows from John Lewis. It’s about £50 but it lasts and lasts without going flat. My DH mocked me mercilessly because I take it away with me, but sneakily tried it for a nap and sheepishly admitted defeat and bought his own!

I have a big memory foam pillow and it's wonderful. Have you tried them? I'm sorry I can't name a brand because I bought mine overseas (I don't think they were popular here yet) but I have just googled and seen most shops (Dunelm, JL) seem to have them. Something to try if you haven't already, anyway.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/01/2020 14:39

IKEA for pillows.

Villagegreenpreservation · 07/01/2020 17:25

£50 is a lot for me sorry. Was thinking I'd stretch to £50 for a pair! I'm skint !

This is all you'll ever need for years! Best £35 I've ever spent, OP. It is worth the price tag. tinyurl.com/yf5tua5f

Ikea hampdan I think. £7 each.

Any one else memory foam kinda warm & sweaty? I don’t get on with it at all. I like cold pillows, so I prefer down.
I need new pillows too, and a new duvet set

Newbameforanewdecade · 07/01/2020 17:35

We have some from m£s - too firm for me to be honest but sounds like what you want - think they’re about £35 each

Greenvalleymama · 07/01/2020 17:36

I was in Dunelm today and they had one of each out so you can feel before you buy. They ranged from £6 to almost £50. I would definitely recommend a trip to your nearest shop, it really helps to be able to squeeze them all.

I can recommend this one OP, and it is less than £12.00.

Find a buckwheat pillow on Amazon, they're amazing

belay · 07/01/2020 17:50

Another vote for the Dunlopillo. It's wonderful

Spanglybangles · 07/01/2020 17:56

@CilantroChili try out a tempur comfort cooltouch pillow. I tried one out in Dreams and it was fantastic, beautifully cold. At £99 a pop, they are pricy but felt amazing.

Craftylittlething · 07/01/2020 18:26

I buy pillows from tkmaxx when we need them, great selection and great value. You can also buy online if there isn’t one close by.

milliefiori · 07/01/2020 18:28

Sainsbury memory foam - between £7-12. Really fat and really firm and don't lose their shape.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/01/2020 18:29

I've got two pillows from My Panda life. They are really good.

LactatingWithRage · 07/01/2020 18:29

The best pillow I have ever had, and still have 15 years later, is a memofoam one I picked up in a service station. Decent size, firm, not super fat, but fat enough (some of the memofoam pillows are silly thin). I wish I knew the brand as I would definitely get another.

milliefiori · 07/01/2020 18:33

The Sainsbury ones are now £13. Better imo than far more expensive ones from M&S.

AuntieDolly · 07/01/2020 18:35

Another vote for a buckwheat pillow. I had them for years

19lottie82 · 07/01/2020 18:36

Yes to the IKEA Hampdan!

cakewench · 07/01/2020 23:09

CilantroChili my memory foam pillow isn't sweaty at all, but I do know what you mean as I've slept on a mattress which fit that description. (And unfortunately as I said, I bought my pillow overseas so I can't help with a UK brand. But they do exist!)

My favourite is the Arlington

I like the same type of pillows as you. Had a quick stopover in a Premier Inn a few months ago and the pillow was like a dream, I honestly couldn’t believe how well I slept. Noticed the next morning you can buy their pillows, mattresses, etc. online so I bought one for £25. Really happy when it was delivered and it’s a pair! Two pillows for £25 and my fiancé likes flat-as-a-pancake pillows so I’ve got a back-up now as well.
