wishing someone a Happy New Year today

Today i saw someone i havent seen for a while so being friendly i said happy new year?

She replied how long do you say Happy New Year for!!

I felt as if i shouldnt have bothered never had that response before just being friendly.

I spent all morning contacting clients saying Happy New Year. Totally normal in the first couple of weeks of Jan.

I said Happy New Year today to someone I’ve already seen & said Happy New Year to since New Year . It’s my default greeting till I can change it to “gosh nearly spring now”...

I've said it and heard it a lot today. For many people it's the first day back at work/school so it makes sense.

I have been emailing all day at work and started most of them with Happy New Year.. getting sick of typing it now
