To think she can't just have fallen asleep?

Just sitting here waiting for ex to pick the kids up, he normally picks them up after his class but he didn’t go today so I called him at 11.30am and asked him what time he’s going to be here. And he says they need to do some shopping first before picking the kids up, they’re getting dressed and ready now. I say ok, and he puts his partners little girl on the phone, she says hi etc, spoke to her for a bit she’s only 2.

Anyway I just called him now at 3pm. Apparently he hasn’t even left the house yet because the little girl ‘fell asleep’Hmmshe just woke up from her nap now and they going now Hmm

AIBU to think they’ve just put the child down for a nap instead of her ‘falling asleep’? I was speaking to her on the phone and they were getting dressed?

Tbh he always picks them up on time, just not feeling well today. I’m on my period, and was really looking forward to a nice bath in peace.

And that all time he was just at home. Ugh.

Sorry OP.
Appears thread has been derailed with curiosity about my parenting.
I’m going to leave it now so you can get the advice you need.
Best wishes.

2 things here.

  1. Yes 2 yos do sometimes fall asleep suddenly especially if they are a bit under the weather or having been sleeping well. When DD was that age I did sometimes wait for her to wake up before I went out.
  2. If I had an arrangement to be somewhere the very least i would do is phone the person I was meeting and let them know I was going to be late. I wouldn't leave anyone just hanging not knowing whats going on and to do it to your own kids is just thoughtless and unkind.

@IamFriedSpam yes there are some ridiculous people out there. I had lots of friends like the poster above who couldn’t possibly leave the house in nap time!!! Utterly self absorbed isn’t it.

Just wading in on the whole nap discussion..

I wouldn't wake a sleeping toddler if they had only been sleeping for a short while but my two were in a predictable routine of a nap after lunch, approx 1-3pm (youngest still does this) so I'd never schedule anything for then anyway. We usually just do things in the morning, then are back for nap time. Eldest is only 3.5 anyway so even though she doesn't nap any more, still needs this quiet time at home after lunch. If she has a party on a weekend at this time (which has happened), then I or DH will take her and the other will stay at home with sleeping toddler (and have some respite!). 🤷

Anyway.. sorry for the detail..
