AIBU?

TO EXPECT A PROPER SIGNATURE NOT A SCANNED ONE ON MY NANA'S 100TH BIRTHDAY CARD FROM THE QUEEN?

Lovely card and message but a bit disappointed that it wasn't a handwritten signature - can't be too many people turning 100 at any one time can there?

There was something about this on the radio the other day (prog about longevity or something rather than telegrams) - over 3000 a year I think. So 60 a week. Hmm...

I love the Queen and have to say I would be disappointed. But you never know, she might be suffering from something and just get wheeled out for occasions.

I think that the Queen has to send out between 4,500 and 5,000 each year.

Certainly it is more birthday/anniversary cards than I send!

and don't forget that wedding anniversaries from the 60th, 65th, 70th and every following year get one too......

Do you actually expect an 80 odd year old woman to sign this many cards every year?!!

It might be hard for the queen as she's older as well

Merlin Congratulations to your nana, wow how lovely 10oth Birthday. Fantastic.

I am sure your nana didn't notice and if she did, I expect wouldn't have said anything to spoil such an occasion. Hope you didn't.

Its the thought, so I have been told.

dh's parents got a scanned signature on their Diamond anniv card from the Queen - but don't think anyone really expected her to sign it herself - congratulations to your grandma too !

Congratulations to your Nana...

Don't forget the cards go out to all HM subjects - including those out in the colonies

Didn't it used to be a telegram? She wouldn't have had to sign those.

Thanks all for your congratulations and comments.

Hadn't really thought about all her subjects around the world, together with the anniversaries etc - good point!

Anyway, we all had a fab day, looking forward to seeing her picture in the local paper tomorrow!!!!

i suppose it's a sign of the times that more people are reaching 100. did anyone see the old dear in the paper today celebrating her 100th. she was a lifelong smoker and when asked why she thought it hadn't affected her said 'i didn't inhale'

I'm amazed so many people live to 100! Esp with so much cancer and road accidents.
Congratulations to your Gran on reaching 100.
