So DH texts me last night whilst he was at work saying "Ebeneezer has just been telling me stories about you when you worked here 🤨" I replied with what stories are they then (I used to have a backbone then, so would often stand up for myself when others tried to bully/manipulate me) DH replied that we'd talk about it when he got home. I was ready for him to tell me about times when I'd given someone a mouthful, or other such stories I'd previously told DH. He comes home and I asked him what Ebeneezer has told him and it went something like this...
(Talking about an ex colleague who utterly despised me)
DH: Oh yeah, Bob couldnt stand Bing, think it stemmed from her giving him a mouthful when he tried to (physically) back her into a corner and started going on about her MH issues
E: Really? Everyone liked Bing. Well, except for Mary.
DH: Mary? Oh, personnel Mary!
E: Yeah, I remember Bing coming in wearing a short, tight black skirt with slits either side, right up to her waist! Mary said it was inappropriate and that Bing should not come into work wearing it again.
DH:...🤨
E: So a load of the lads got a petition together to say that Bing should be able to wear that skirt all the time!
DH: ...Ebeneezer that's my wife you're talking about
E: Well obviously we didnt hand the petition in, but we all talked about in the break room! Bing, that skirt and those legs..
DH: Seriously Ebeneezer stop talking now, that's my wife and id appreciate you not talking about her like that. Especially to me, HER BLOODY HUSBAND!!
I'm not sure how the conversation finished (although I know DH didnt knock Ebeneezer out!) Who in their right mind would have this conversation with the persons DH?? I remember the skirt, it was knee length (as stated in uniform guide) and had a small slit at the back. I regularly see Ebeneezer and chat with him, AIBU in thinking "eeewwwwww?" everytime I see him?! And just so you know, I was not a stripper 🤣😂

Well it was inappropriate to the point of Mary having to tell her not to wear it again, the boys knowing that this happened and them collectively signing a petition to have her wear it. I can't imagine it was office wear. I'm sure the guy was just having a laugh!

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 11:10

@bingcankissmyass hasn't confirmed that though, and there's NOTHING laughable about someone being treated as a sex object when they're trying to do a job of work.

Are you a woman? Because your attitude is closer to the sort of man that provokes universal LTBs.

Shedidnt · 02/01/2020 11:11

The fact that she was told not to wear it again and that it was the talk of the workplace suggests that it wasn't appropriate.

iklboo · 02/01/2020 11:17

No shedidnt - that's the sleaze's wildly inaccurate version of his events. A knee length skirt with a small slit in the back becomes a micro mini slit to the waist (how the fuck would that work) on both sides.

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 11:18

Your dick's showing @Shedidnt

YappityYapYap · 02/01/2020 11:20

I don't understand this thread and who said what

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 11:22

Read it again, or ask a more specific question @YappityYapYap?

Ilovenutellaaaaa · 02/01/2020 11:27

Isn't there a HR your husband can go to report this to....I know ebaneezer probably meant it as fun...but nobody should qve to go to work and hear their collegues talking about their spouse in that way, it's inppropriate for him to say it to your husband...

Ilovenutellaaaaa · 02/01/2020 11:28

*should have

fluffyjumper · 02/01/2020 11:31

My husband is a manger and I work within the company. I have known some of the ladies there before they started working there. I classed these ladies as friends. I've just been told that all the ladies where discussing who they would have sex with out of my dh or the big boss. My friends joined in. Everyone knows me as I pop in for coffee and do the odd shift there.

I understand its light hearted and all theoretical, but I wouldn't discuss a friends husband in this way or anyone. I feel a little hurt, I'm heavily pregnant and resemble a whale at present. So when dh told me about this it has caused me to feel really low. Sorry hijacked the post.

ACouchOfOnesOwn · 02/01/2020 11:32

I've just realised that I very much dislike threads that pretend they are a play. It feels like being in a high school writing group.

Bingcankissmyass · 02/01/2020 11:32

Just to clarify, Mary and I didnt get along as i informed her she was wrong when she yelled at me in front of colleagues that I wasn't wearing tights with my skirt, (as is stated in the guide) when in actual fact I was wearing tan coloured tights. She also told me not to wear the skirt, as it was not an appropriate length and colour, I got the handbook out and pointed out the length/colour was just as stated in said handbook (and with zero waist high slits!) As for my being backed into a corner and having my MH issues bandied about, I've gotten over it (it was years ago) I gave Bob both barrels and he never mentioned it again, and pretty much steered clear of me until I left! As for stealth boasts/humble brags, I wish i had something worth bragging about!

I followed most of it except for the bit about knowing your DH didn't knock him out.

Does your DH usually knock people out at work? Does he work at a boxing club? Confused

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 11:39

Sounds like a hideously sexist workplace Bing, where Mary had picked up on the culture and was as misogynistic as the rest of them Sad

ByeMF · 02/01/2020 11:45

It sounds like E thinks he's being a lad. Your DH called him out. If it happens again, your DH should have a word with personnel.

Elvesdontdomagic · 02/01/2020 11:46

I wonder why your DH told you? It's even weirder that he made a point of telling you he needed to tell you before he even got home! Why would he want you to know some lads had been drooling over you at work?

Reported for troll hunting @Cantuccit

Strongmummy · 02/01/2020 11:54

DH should have decked him

2020BetterBeBetter · 02/01/2020 11:54

I don’t read what Cantuccit wrote as troll hunting. I read it as the OP’s husband having a vivid imagination. After all, why would he have continued that conversation instead of shutting it straight down and in the unlikely event he carried it on, why would he then tell his wife? 🤷🏻‍♀️ And tell his wife in so much detail as well? Bizarre.

iklboo · 02/01/2020 11:56

If someone was being a dick about me to DH he'd tell me. Why wouldn't he?

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 11:56

Hetried to shut it down - and then told her about it because someone she knows is saying awful things about her. How is that hard to understand?

Bingcankissmyass · 02/01/2020 12:09

@DameFanny it was a supermarket, it was widely known that the managers would sleep with the staff Envy not envy! There were rumours that I was sleeping with 2 managers, all because we'd sit in the break room together and have a cigarette and a laugh (back in those days!) Mary even told one of them my 'relationship' with him was inappropriate!
@Elvesdontdomagic he told me because he couldn't believe Ebeneezer had actually said it to him, the waiting til he got back is a bit of a joke!

OP posts:
Chocmallows · 02/01/2020 12:15

Sounds like they don't like you, possibly not your DH either and wanted to wind him up and hoped it would get back to you. Sounds a toxic place to work.

Mlou32 · 02/01/2020 12:25

@DameFanny 😂😂😂 Get a grip of yourself. Living up to your name I see, you're a right fanny. I can't even be bothered entering into conversation with the likes of you. Enjoy spending your day arguing with everyone 😂
