So DH texts me last night whilst he was at work saying "Ebeneezer has just been telling me stories about you when you worked here 🤨" I replied with what stories are they then (I used to have a backbone then, so would often stand up for myself when others tried to bully/manipulate me) DH replied that we'd talk about it when he got home. I was ready for him to tell me about times when I'd given someone a mouthful, or other such stories I'd previously told DH. He comes home and I asked him what Ebeneezer has told him and it went something like this...
(Talking about an ex colleague who utterly despised me)
DH: Oh yeah, Bob couldnt stand Bing, think it stemmed from her giving him a mouthful when he tried to (physically) back her into a corner and started going on about her MH issues
E: Really? Everyone liked Bing. Well, except for Mary.
DH: Mary? Oh, personnel Mary!
E: Yeah, I remember Bing coming in wearing a short, tight black skirt with slits either side, right up to her waist! Mary said it was inappropriate and that Bing should not come into work wearing it again.
DH:...🤨
E: So a load of the lads got a petition together to say that Bing should be able to wear that skirt all the time!
DH: ...Ebeneezer that's my wife you're talking about
E: Well obviously we didnt hand the petition in, but we all talked about in the break room! Bing, that skirt and those legs..
DH: Seriously Ebeneezer stop talking now, that's my wife and id appreciate you not talking about her like that. Especially to me, HER BLOODY HUSBAND!!
I'm not sure how the conversation finished (although I know DH didnt knock Ebeneezer out!) Who in their right mind would have this conversation with the persons DH?? I remember the skirt, it was knee length (as stated in uniform guide) and had a small slit at the back. I regularly see Ebeneezer and chat with him, AIBU in thinking "eeewwwwww?" everytime I see him?! And just so you know, I was not a stripper 🤣😂

What the fuck is going on this morning on here?

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:20

Beats me @nosauce - maybe we dialled back to the 1950s - where a knee length pencil skirt would have been completely unremarkable

Shedidnt · 02/01/2020 10:25

Did you wear a skirt so inappropriate that you were told not to?

Jumpi · 02/01/2020 10:30

God this was dull

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:30

From the OP @shedidnt "I remember the skirt, it was knee length (as stated in uniform guide) and had a small slit at the back". Sounds like a pretty ordinary office type skirt to me.

Unless you've some other reason for taking the word of a socially-challenged sleaze you've never met over the word of the woman posting?

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:31

And you're adding to the interest exactly how @jumpi ?

Jumpi · 02/01/2020 10:34

Is it my job to add to the interest? Confused

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:35

Well what's the point of saying it's dull?

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:36

Other than to be pointlessly rude of course

Jumpi · 02/01/2020 10:40

I don’t see any point in your posts so far but can find the energy to scroll on by Smile

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:49

And yet you have to tell the OP it's a dull thread?

Shedidnt · 02/01/2020 10:51

What exactly is the point of your thread? Did your DH come home and accuse you of being a tart or something?

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:52

Oh FFS she says what the point is - that the ex colleague shouldn't have said that, and especially not to her DH.

SomeKindOfMonster · 02/01/2020 10:53

I hope you won't still be chatting with him now OP. I'm sorry, your old workplace sounds horrendous.

Not sure why so many people think sexual harassment is boasting material...

Shedidnt · 02/01/2020 10:53

Well why not?

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:53

And the point of my posts this morning is that I'm sick and tired of seeing ignorance, willful incomprehension and casual cruelty being paraded as something to be proud of on this site.

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:55

Why not? Because it's creepy and sexist, and the guy didn't even have the self awareness to not share his fantasy with her DH

Mlou32 · 02/01/2020 10:55

It was just a daft, jokey conversation between them. Not sure what else to say 🤷‍♀️

Shedidnt · 02/01/2020 10:56

Well Mary told her not to wear it again. The boys like it, so I can't imagine them liking it it was actually appropriate.

Jumpi · 02/01/2020 10:57

Wow @DameFanny, you’re bizarrely precious over this thread. Ppl are allowed to find things dull and comment on it.

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 10:59

People are allowed yes, and then other people are allowed to point out that they're being pointlessly rude

Lweji · 02/01/2020 11:00

Tell us who he is and we'll go there and give him an earful.

letmeinthroughyourwindow · 02/01/2020 11:01

So op, did 'personnel Mary' have to talk to you about your skirt or was Ebenezer making that up?

Regardless of skirt, Ebenezer and 'the lads' sound horrendous, and Bob sounds very aggressive to have backed you into a corner and berated you about your mental health.

I'm glad you say you knew how to stick up
for yourself back then, and I assume that you never stood for any of it, but it's a shame that you had to put up with it and I'm glad you've left. I hope the culture has changed somewhat, or at least that your dh doesn't go along with it.

Lweji · 02/01/2020 11:02

More seriously, I'd probably ask him if he likes my sexy outfit next time I see him. And offer to call DH so that he can comment on it to him too.

DameFanny · 02/01/2020 11:03

Oh for the sake of actual fuck. @mlou32 her DH told him to stop talking - how is that a jokey conversation? Or do you think day, Trump talking about assaulting women is also just conversation?

And @shedidnt - you really don't like women do you? You'll take the word of a sexist creep (that the skirt was inappropriate and someone complained) over anything the OP has actually said. Have you asked yourself why?
