...to spend new years day cleaning every fucking one of them. preferably whilst having the hangover from hell.

Oh no, I was thinking about getting one! Not a good idea then? Grin

Soak in boiling water. Job done and well worth it for the deliciousness

stripeypillowcase · 01/01/2020 14:52

they are fiddly things. too hot on top and not how enough in the pans below.
it tastes ok, but tbh an ordinary oven does a better job - without having to clean a thousand sticky pieces.

I put the top of mine in the dishwasher Xmas Confused I admit that it doesn't always come out very clean though after being subjected to all the (deliciously melty tasty) foodstuffs...

I love my raclette Xmas Smile

stripeypillowcase · 01/01/2020 14:54

...not hot enough

stripeypillowcase · 01/01/2020 15:32

maybe ours is just shit.
it's a tefal with supposedly anti stick surface (it isn't really...) and the anti stick means it can't go into the dishwasher...

But the point is that you do your own thing, so an oven wouldn’t cut it. YABU. Raclettes are amazing!

QueenOfTheSavages · 01/01/2020 15:38

I quite fancied one as it's 'interactive'

fluffyjumper · 01/01/2020 15:41

Love mine, I dont find it hard to clean especially if it's still hot.

Expressedways · 01/01/2020 15:42

We don’t use the top, on ours it’s billed as a crepe maker, and nor does anyone I know. What do you do with it? We serve potatoes, salad, meat and cornichon in separately dishes all placed in the middle of the table which is how I’ve always had it in restaurants or at peoples houses. Then stick the cheese in the paddles and put it under the grill, afterwards put said paddles in the dishwasher and the clean up is done. Love ours so much we bought a second one for when we have a lot of fellow cheese loving friends over!

stripeypillowcase · 01/01/2020 15:43

best was dessert: baking apple in small cubes topped with mini marshmallows and chocolate.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 01/01/2020 15:44

We use ours mainly for doing fajitas, wraps on top, salsa, guacamole, melted cheese etc in the trays. QED

We have been sticking the paddles in the dishwasher for thirty years without any comeback.

Bluegrasstrail · 01/01/2020 15:45

I don't know what yours looks like but the top of ours is for cooking the meat and vegetables.

We just shove the little pans and the top plate in the dishwasher.
