Probably being unreasonable - indicating to driver to slow down?

I am 100% sure I'll be told that I'm an arsehole, but to be honest this day can't get much worse (not just for this reason).

So I was crossing the road. It's a long road - purely residential with 2 schools and one shop. But it's a very straight road.

Obviously, I'm presuming the limit is maybe 50kph. (Don't know as I don't drive here).

So I'm crossing the road and this BOLLOCKS in an SUV comes over the hill doing 80mph if not 90mph. I'm in the middle of the road, so being in bad fucking humour and feeling fucked off in general, I stood still in the middle of the road and waved him down (with the slow down movement). I then tootled across the road. The other small-pricked cunt of a bollocks hoots the horn at me (blasts it for 10 seconds) as he passes me by.

So, jury, which of us was the bigger lunatic? Me trying to direct traffic or the arrogant speeding bastard?

You can't be sure how fast he was driving. He slowed down for you to cross the road, I imagine him tooting you was no more than a cheery greeting. You say you were in bad F*g humour and Fd off generally which wasn't the driver's problem. He certainly didn't warrant being called a "small-pricked cunt of a bollocks", even though he doesn't know you've said that. Charming I'm sure!

Yawn yawn.

RebelWithVerySharpClaws · 01/01/2020 16:55

I hate these drivers that speed on residential streets. They would not like it if it was their own children put at risk by speeding idiots.

Scarsthelot · 01/01/2020 17:03

These distances are averages. They are less in a car with better brakes.

And it could have worse brakes. And/or worse tyres.

And an SUV is a heavier vehicle so that lengthens stopping distance.

Greysparkles · 01/01/2020 17:09

Who knows. Maybe the road is a 50 and no one was speeding at all

PullingMySocksUp · 01/01/2020 19:16

Yes Scarsthelot they could have had longer stopping distances. My point was to argue with people who are saying it’s not possible to stop from that speed. I’m saying it could be possible.

Scarsthelot · 01/01/2020 19:24

@PullingMySocksUp by the ops own measurements, and speeds it's not likely. Nowhere near.

In all likelihood, was travelling alot slower.

PullingMySocksUp · 01/01/2020 19:33

@Scarsthelot
Ok. I was annoyed by people quoting the figures as proof when they can vary.
