What genre of books do you like? I have a few by Linwood Barclay on my kindle and he writes crime fiction and I learned of him due to the kindle subscription that you get, I’m currently reading My Daddy Is A Hero which is about the murder of Shan’Ann Watts & her 2 little girls by their husband and father.

Only read the first post so didn’t notice that Linwood Barclay had been spoken of, seems he is popular.

I like Mandasue Heller too, she’s similar to Martine Cole but her stories are based on Manchester and the characters aren’t all the same like in Coles books.

The Milkman
Manhattan Beach
Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys
If nobody speaks of remarkable things by Jon McGregor
The five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom
City of Thieves by David Benioff
The Other Half Of Augusta Hope by Joanna Glen

As,Pp,s have suggested ,The couple next door is an excellent book imo, lots of twists and turns .

I agree with Elinor Oliphant, the Red Tent, the Shardlake series. Half a Yellow Sun was the best book I’ve read recently.

JKScot4 · 06/01/2020 16:26

Kindle Unlimited is the way to go, let’s you try lots of books.
Elinor Oliphant; awful irritating book
All the light we cannot see
House between Tides; Sarah Maine
Stuart McBride for crime
Christopher Brookmyre for crime & dark humour
Just bought today; The Driftwood Girls; Mark Douglas Home

Someone up-thread recommended Perfume: The Story of a Murderer- I heartily second this recommendation

I will add to the list by recommending The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Gone Girl, The Girl On The Train, and The Lovely Bones if you haven't read them already or seen the films.

bridgetreilly · 06/01/2020 16:40

You can get free samples of most kindle books, so you can try them to see what you like.

If you like thrillers then the PJ Tracey Monkeewrench series is really good, they’re set in Minnesota

CakeandCustard28 · 06/01/2020 17:21

I really enjoyed Eve of man if you’re into six-fi YA. Just finishing Friend Request at the moment and it’s pretty good if you like thrillers.
