To be bored of the same old New Years Resolutions?

notasoutherner · 30/12/2019 23:07

I am so tired of seeing the same tiresome resolutions year in year old (mainly the usual weight loss/alcohol/food ones)

Would love to here some unusual ones from MNers!

Mine is to learn to like red wine

Use more local or small businesses instead of internet shopping.

Jollitwiglet · 30/12/2019 23:10

I think new years resolutions are all a bit shit anyway. If you want to make a change just do it, don't wait to do just because it's a new year.

But no one cares what I think anyway so I'll just sit quietly in the corner and grumble to myself Grin

Bananatrain · 31/12/2019 02:32

Mine is to get rid of all my shit friends and find some new ones!

PrancerOnParade · 31/12/2019 03:11

I want to learn to invert at my pole fitness class. I have a few but that's probably the more unusual one. The rest are rather boring.

ProfessionalBoss · 31/12/2019 03:14

@Jollitwiglet I think I'll join you in the corner, as I also think NY resolutions are shit and I also think why wait until new year to do what everyone else is doing... Most of them fail before January is over...

SnorkMaiden81 · 31/12/2019 03:32

I want to recommit to my artwork, improve at it, produce more and enjoy it again.

Rainbowqueeen · 31/12/2019 03:35

This year it was learn to do the floss ( epic fail)
Last year was to try a martini ( did but didn’t like it)
Not sure yet for 2020

Bibby26 · 31/12/2019 10:46

Take more photos! I never take pictures of anything. I’ve only a handful of photographic memories from this year so I’m going to make a conscious effort to take more!

JaceLancs · 31/12/2019 10:50

Spend more time with DM
Waste less time online
Learn advanced publisher and excel
Plus lose weight, spend less, drink less, exercise more etc

TheZeppo · 31/12/2019 10:51

Do ore things by myself. I’m hopelessly single and, whilst my social life is very busy, I rarely do anything or go anywhere by myself. Which is a bit pathetic!

orangejuicer · 31/12/2019 10:53

Learn to be more relaxed about things.
Back away from the smartphone.
Be more assertive at work.

PhilCornwall1 · 31/12/2019 10:57

Confused add an additional one of searching out a good Chiropractor, this sounds dangerous!!

StrongTeaDropOfMilkNoSugar · 31/12/2019 10:58

I prefer to have New Year goals rather than resolutions. Sounds more positive somehow.

This year, my goals are to conquer my imposter syndrome at work, and to beat my 10K and Half Marathon PBs.

LastNameMarple · 31/12/2019 10:59

I’m gong to write a romance novel Grin.

Malacath · 31/12/2019 11:00

I'm determined to learn to do proper push ups. Not quite a new year's resolution, just something that ties into getting back into my normal exercise routine (have gone overboard with Christmas treats and massively regret that now Xmas Blush). Had wanted to do push ups before the end of the year but have been so busy with all sorts of things including Christmas prep, I haven't had time to do any exercise at all!

andyjusthangingaround · 31/12/2019 11:02

I need to try 53 new dishes in 2020. ( I am not the cook in our household) 😂
Take one exam - job related
Do a clothes shopping (😔 don’t like it at all, pretty much a nightmare for me...)

SimonJT · 31/12/2019 11:02

Complete an iron man, I have almost done this twice and had to pull out due to injury.

Play more piano, it has been really neglected this year.

Be more assertive at work, I’m team leader and a huge pushover at times, so I want to delegate more. It isn’t just beneficial to me, it will be beneficial to the whole team.

andyjusthangingaround · 31/12/2019 11:03

With regard to weight, just not to put on more than I am on 1st January 😂😂😂

OlaEliza · 31/12/2019 11:04

Mine is to learn to like red wine

Why? If you don't like it, you don't like it.

countdowntonap · 31/12/2019 11:06

Last year, my resolution was to be 10 minutes early to all of my gym classes. Stuck to it! A small resolution, but meant I wasn’t stressed about time in the car on the way, and met new people by having a chat before.

This year, I’m not buying any new clothing unless I have a specific occasion to wear it. I have wardrobes (and wardrobes) of clothes, so no more buying items just because I like them. Should save me over £1000 over the year.

redwoodmazza · 31/12/2019 11:30

Divorce!

Lillyhatesjaz · 31/12/2019 14:38

To make something different from one of my many cookery books once a week
