I know there have been previous threads about this but there are new product lines coming out all the time. I'm going with my children tomorrow. I haven't been for about 6 months. What do.I need to look out for/essential purchases i can't overlook? Many thanks :)

This isn't an AIBU and surely depends on your specific needs.

No use anyone recommending wardrobes or crockery when you're looking for mirrors or cushions.

Meatballs
3 pack of scissors
Chopping boards
Bath mats
Cheap fleece blankets (great for keeping in the car, pets and lining curtains on the cheap)
This range of glass Tupperware style pots etc. www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/ikea-365-food-container-with-lid-rectangular-glass-plastic-glass-s89269071/
Brown paper

Imtryingveryhard · 29/12/2019 17:45

Thanks @bankittenheels. Scissors and chopping boards are now in my list and I'll be looking at the glass pots too.

Of no real use but the giant soft shark has been a hit with my LO. Also got a lamp for the front room and some trofast storage boxes for the masses of toys in my DC's bedroom.

Reusable food bags.
Free cup of coffee.

Hellohah · 29/12/2019 17:51

I'm going tomorrow for shelving for the bathroom and some magazine racks so DS can organise his school work.

I will come back with about 50 candles 🙈

iamjellybean · 29/12/2019 17:52

The silicon baking mat www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/moenstrad-oven-baking-mat-pink-80233072/. Love mine!

torthecatlady · 29/12/2019 17:52

The blankets are great as previously mentioned. Also those glass Tupperware boxes are fantastic, can be put in the oven and the freezer!
We seem to get a load of candles and plants every time we go.

If you don't already have LED light bulbs, they're really cheap in Ikea and make a huge difference in energy bills and they're really bright too compared to regular energy saving bulbs.

Next time we're going, we're getting a bigger dining table and one of those kallax units (4x1).

Socktopus!

Whistle73 · 29/12/2019 17:57

Sandwich bags!

Imtryingveryhard · 29/12/2019 18:04

Googling all of these! Not seen the baking mat before, and I've no doubt I will come back with lots of candles. Im going for a kallax unit plus some boxes/inserts for the boys playroom but I am sure I will end up buying a whole lot more. DH has just reminded me about batteries, some door rugs that need replacing, canvas pictures and the food bags someone has just mentioned. Had no idea about the free coffee....

Their food / grocery items are good. And their stackable toughened glass storage jars makes any pantry look organised.

NotExactly9 · 29/12/2019 18:11

Are you actually asking if you are being unreasonable about anything?

Yarboosucks · 29/12/2019 18:14

Herring! Oh and herring, and of course, some herring. Arctic bread (great with herring), princess cakes (for after herring).

littleducks · 29/12/2019 18:17

Can anyone link to the good reusable food bags?

georgialondon · 29/12/2019 18:20

Their food /freezer bags are like no others. Amazing!

theatrenerd31 · 29/12/2019 18:22

The chocolate spread with butterscotch pieces in!

MintyMabel · 29/12/2019 18:24

Why are you going to Ikea if you don’t have something to buy? Is it some sort of day trip for the kids Confused

MintyMabel · 29/12/2019 18:24

Sorry, just saw the update.

Littleshortcake · 29/12/2019 18:25

We went the other day. The faux plant (hanging plant) is lovely. Freezer bags. Batteries (really last). Light bulbs. Picture frames.

I bought a nice floor lamp and cushion covers for after taking down the decorations.

The white kitchen bins are really good quality. Also a few blue carrier bags so handy.

lotusbell · 29/12/2019 18:26

I'm part of a group on FB run by a couple of people, probably flight attendants, who will bring things back from America for you, such as sweets and candles then post them out to you. I wish someone would volunteer themselves to do this with Ikea trips! A lot of their smaller stuff can't be purchased online and the postage charges are ridiculous anyway.

AlpacaGoodnight · 29/12/2019 18:27

Bulbs/bulb adaptirs/ glasses/ wine glasses/ cuddly toy! I used to get batteries there but the last few lots didn't last as well and some leaked. The Amazon basics ones are much better lasting and I haven't had any leaks yet.

Imtryingveryhard · 29/12/2019 18:28

Chocolate with butterscotch pieces? I've never seen that before! Sounds delicious (and now on my list!)

SmudgeButt · 29/12/2019 18:28

@Yarboosucks

hate to say it but you got it wrong. you forgot the gravlax that should be served before the first round of herring.

nom herring.....

RickOShay · 29/12/2019 18:29

Photo frames are good, always have big sizes.
I like their duvet covers, cushion covers and bath mats.
Always find a nice lamp as well.
