Ironing bedding?

Jadefeather7 · 28/12/2019 19:48

Do you iron your bedding, get it ironed or do you have crinkled sheets on your bed?
I have some pollycotton stuff which doesn’t crinkle too much. Thinking about getting pure cottonNow but I hate creased material!!

I never iron bedding. I don't care about creases

catinb0oots · 28/12/2019 19:51

Life is too short to spend it flattening your sheets

Gatehouse77 · 28/12/2019 19:53

I iron duvet covers and pillow cases because I like to. I don’t iron fitted sheets.

Thestrangestthing · 28/12/2019 19:54

When I had pnd I was obsessed with cleaning and having everything in my house perfect, I would iron the bedding on the beds! I felt like it was the only thing I had control over. Now I couldn't give a shiney shite if my bedding has creases. I don't even make the beds anymore, just shake them out and fold the sheets down. Life is too short.

Fatted · 28/12/2019 19:55

Never ironed it. I don't buy fancy stuff, but I've found drying it on the line or in the tumble dryer gets rid of any creases anyway.

Floralnomad · 28/12/2019 19:55

Anything other than fleece bedding goes to the ironing lady

ColaFreezePop · 28/12/2019 19:55

I never iron bedding. I deliberately buy poly cotton bedding so it's not really creased. I alsp hang it up immediately after the spin cycle finishes so it is even less creased.

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 28/12/2019 19:56

Tumble dry and whip it out as soon as it's done, no need to iron. I've got a superking size bed, I don't even know where I'd start, it's hard enough changing the bloody thing.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 28/12/2019 19:58

I iron the duvet cover and pillow cases but not the sheets

ohprettybaby · 28/12/2019 19:58

I always iron bedding. I just don't want crumpled up sheets in the same way as I wouldn't wear unironed trousers, blouse, dress etc.

Palaver1 · 28/12/2019 19:58

I love ironing so quilty I iron beddings everything towels, my knickers as well.

KnightandDay · 28/12/2019 19:59

I too have an ironing lady, she comes to collect ironing and drops it back the next day. I only send out sheets and shirts, everything else doesn't get ironed.

GlamGiraffe · 28/12/2019 20:04

I buy 100% cotton . 1 king size, 2 doubles and a cot. I change the beds weekly and iron it all. I have a steam generator iron which makes an immense difference but sometimes they do need a bit of starch too. I never tumble dry as apart from my environmental objections it makes them unmanageable.
I iron 6 large flat sheets weekly, 13 pillow cases, 3 large duvet covers and the cot sheets and duvet. Fortunately I quite like ironing!
I do have extra sets as the heavy cotton takes a long time to dry in the winter so it have spares.
I find The White Company is by far the best quality and lasts years longer than all the other brands I have ever tried.

ParkheadParadise · 28/12/2019 20:04

I send mine to the ironing lady.
Superking size bed, also send DH's shirts.

speakout · 28/12/2019 20:05

What's an iron?

safariboot · 28/12/2019 20:06

YABU to iron bedding. Pointless waste of time.

CalmFizz · 28/12/2019 20:07

Yep, I iron my duvet cover and pillowcases. I rotate sets usually, but I wouldn’t bother to change the bed if I wasn’t putting fresh ironed sheets on the bed, I wouldn’t feel the benefit of getting into a crisp bed if it’s already crumpled.

Redcrayons · 28/12/2019 20:09

Nope.

Tried it once, it was really hard. Never done it again.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/12/2019 20:09

No ironing here (though that will change when the kids go to juniors and wear shirts!).

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/12/2019 20:12

God no!! Decrinkles as soon as on

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 28/12/2019 20:14

Nah. I don't see the point - the fitted sheets don't have any creases once they're on, and even if the duvet cover and pillowcases were wrinkle free when I put them on, they wouldn't be once we'd been in bed 30 seconds!

They still feel nice and fresh when they're clean, regardless.

Lipstickandlashes · 28/12/2019 20:14

We never used to but then I realised how much I loved ironed sheets in hotels/when I stayed with friends who iron theirs. So now I send them out to be ironed (the only items we do). About 20 quid every couple of weeks and so worth it. Although DH doesn't care either way so I suppose it's down to personal preference how much it bothers you...

AfterSchoolWorry · 28/12/2019 20:18

I would never have time to iron bedding, where do people get the time? Confused

thistimelastweek · 28/12/2019 20:19

It definitely feels nicer if you iron it but does that warrant the effort?
Depends on how you dry it and how much time you have on your hands. At the very least I iron the pillow slips

Sceptre86 · 28/12/2019 20:20

I iron duvet covers and pillow cases as I think it looks neat. I wouldn't bother with a fitted sheet. I wash bedding once a week though and if am busy will iron the kids bedding and leave my own.
