To ask what time of day you KNEW you were in labour

Just that, 37+3 with number 2 and have been on/off having false labour for hours on end for a week driving me slightly loopy. I know its not an indication that it's about to start. But 90% of people will tell you labour starts at night (I appreciate its due to a rise in hormones) , my first did. It sure makes for long uncomfortable days! Especially sitting on the carpet all day with Dc1 for Christmas and thinking about the difficulties of getting them out the house in the middle of the night! Cheer me up with some alternative stories please. I have an elcs booked in 11 days but am convinced I won't make it (fingers crossed I'm fed up!)

I'd say about 3am then I really knew I was in labour at 8am

PixieDustt · 28/12/2019 19:51

ALongHardWinter · 28/12/2019 19:56

Slight twinges during the day from 1pm. Just slightly uncomfortable, not painful. By 11.30pm that evening,it started getting more painful, and at 2.30am,I went to the hospital. Dd was born at 5am.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 28/12/2019 20:59

10am. He wasn't actually born until 1.28am the next day though.

1st was induced and 3&4 were sections

raspberryk · 28/12/2019 21:13

I was looking back clearly in very early labour all day but I went to bed even sending my H to work on a night shift thinking it wasn't the real deal. Woke in the early hours 2am or so and knew it was it but was having a home birth so left ds asleep. Got him collected at 10am or so as I couldn't relax and dd wasn't born til after 4pm.
Also woke early hours with ds about 1am but had a 27 hour labour with irregular contractions the whole time, I knew by 7am it was the real deal.

Just in time for rush hour traffic Blush

CactusSmactus · 28/12/2019 21:39

1st - My water broke and labour didn’t come on naturally so was induced after nearly 48 hours.

2nd- Within an hour of waking up in the morning (woke up at 7) I had gone from feeling nothing at all to strong contractions within an hour. Left for hospital around 12 and had my baby at 3.40pm.

3rd - On off niggling pains from 11am but wasn’t sure so took a bath early evening and the contractions increased. I’d been told that a bath will halt them if they’re not ‘real’ Left for hospital at 7pm and baby was born at 9.50pm

4th - Water broke before labour started again, had two sweeps over the following 18 hours because I didn’t want another induction, and knew it was finally underway properly at 5pm ish. Baby was born at 9.55pm.

I think it was about 3pm at my midwife appointment at 39+6 weeks when she told me I was 3cm dilated already and to head to hospital. I had mild twinges but nothing obvious. Went home, cooked a pizza for my other child and got a taxi at 6 Grin They had to break my water the next day to kickstart things properly in any case then it was all very quick

Horses4 · 28/12/2019 21:41

With the first it was about 9am when I suddenly had a big bleed and contractions started. I was a week overdue

Lordfrontpaw · 28/12/2019 21:42

Waters broke as newsnight started and we went to hospital before it ended.

OwlBeThere · 28/12/2019 21:45

1st: 7pm when my waters burst all over my new sofa.
2nd: 7am when I had three contractions in 5 mins out of nowhere that stopped me speaking.
3rd: about 4am when I realised the ‘wee’i kept needing was my waters but i was so tired I just pretended it wasn’t happening and went back to sleep Grin
4th: about 5 mins before her head came out...

pinkpanther84 · 28/12/2019 21:45

1st baby- waters broke at midnight, contractions started about 11am

2nd baby- waters broke at 9pm, contractions started about 10pm

Crunchymum · 28/12/2019 21:48

DC1 - approx 10pm (born at 12:56am a few days later Shock)
DC2 - 3am, waters went and contractions started within 10 minutes (born at 6.45am)
DC3 - induced so had niggles for 22 hours. Then proper contractions kicked in at Midnight (baby born 1.18am!!)

Best of luck.

I threw up my tea at 8pm went out the next day and locked myself out. I was 37 weeks and thought I'm going to go in to labour. No physical signs. Went to bed that night after waiting most of the day for a locksmith woke up up in the middle of the night in labour and was 4-5 cm dilated. There was just something about the build up that just felt weird.
That was my second child, my first wasn't quite as dramatic but I knew I was going I to Labour about 24hrs before the first physical symptoms was going to be sent home but insisted I stayed. Thankfully they said yes as 10 mins later the shite hit the fan and I was being rushed in for emergency c section.

Seems odd thinking back now but I distinctly remember the feeling, it was quite weird.

mindutopia · 28/12/2019 21:58

First one, when waters breaking woke me up at 2am. She was born 11.5 hours later (had no contractions until about 2 hours after waters went). 2nd one, I woke up as normal at 6am with period cramps, definitely knew I was in labour by 9am. He was born at 3pm.

SidSparrow · 28/12/2019 22:45

Occasional on and off cramping since the Tuesday. Having “regular” contractions by lunch time Friday. By regular they were about 10mins apart but sometime stopping for half hour or so before starting again. My daughter was born at 4:50 on the Sunday morning.
