To ask what time of day you KNEW you were in labour

Just that, 37+3 with number 2 and have been on/off having false labour for hours on end for a week driving me slightly loopy. I know its not an indication that it's about to start. But 90% of people will tell you labour starts at night (I appreciate its due to a rise in hormones) , my first did. It sure makes for long uncomfortable days! Especially sitting on the carpet all day with Dc1 for Christmas and thinking about the difficulties of getting them out the house in the middle of the night! Cheer me up with some alternative stories please. I have an elcs booked in 11 days but am convinced I won't make it (fingers crossed I'm fed up!)

2nd went from nothing to waters breaking to baby within half hour though 😮.

passthebucky · 28/12/2019 08:19

Dc1 1am, woke up to a wet bed.
Dc2 4am
Dc3 3:30am
Dc4 12:30pm
Dc5 6pm

I'd spent all evening watching tv and could not get comfortable at all, felt as if the baby's head had shifted right down. Then I went to bed around 11 and started feeling light cramps every few minutes and that's when I knew DS was on his way. 18 hours later there he was!

Tonii1985 · 28/12/2019 08:19

My waters broke a few hours before any actual contractions started with both of mine but when the contractions kicked in it was about 1am/2am with both

smemorata · 28/12/2019 08:19

I have 3 kids but never had a natural labour so no idea but wanted to say good luck OP!

MynameisJune · 28/12/2019 08:53

Waters broke at 2:30pm, DD2 arrived just before 8pm. I’d just woken up from a nap on the sofa when they went.

DD1 was induction so no idea with her.

Russell19 · 28/12/2019 17:47

Waters broke at 9am.... slow contractions until I knew they were properly coming at 10pm!

TheJoxter · 28/12/2019 17:56

With my first it went on and on and on and I didn’t go into proper labour until they broke my waters in hospital

With my second I knew because I slept through early labour and woke up at 6.30am with proper contractions, only just made it to hospital in time!

GrandTheftWalrus · 28/12/2019 17:57

2pm while out shopping.

Sofast · 28/12/2019 18:00

Dd1 was about 3pm, was very early but I just knew, things didn't kick off until 9pm and she wasnt born until lunchtime the next day

Dd2 it woke me up at 2am, she was born at 6am

GrandTheftWalrus · 28/12/2019 18:01

Also meant to add, I was 5cm by the time I arrived at hospital at 6.30pm. Waters went about 8/9pm (cant remember) and she was born just after 10pm.

I'd been to the midwife that morning and she offered a sweep and I declined as I was booked for an induction 4 days later.

CatFaceCats · 28/12/2019 18:05

11:30pm ish - I’d been a bit crampy all day. So I got up and left DH asleep so he didn’t annoy me. Woke him up shouting at 5am as I’d gotten in the bath and couldn’t get my whale-like self out of it 😂 was bleeding a bit, midwife told me to go to the hospital @ 6:30am and I was 8cm. she was born by EMCS at 8:30am.

kittykatkitty · 28/12/2019 18:14

Dd1 1am That Labour lasted 37 hours
Dd2 10 pm all done in 2 hours

happytoday73 · 28/12/2019 18:16

First middle of the night, second 7pm when my waters suddenly went without any warning re Labour

DramaAlpaca · 28/12/2019 18:17

DS1 3am, woken with a contraction
DS2 it was about 12 noon when I was sure things were happening
DS3 3am again, like with DS1

Whathappenedtothelego · 28/12/2019 18:20

With Dc1, late afternoon (about 12 hours before birth)
With DC2, late evening (about 18 hours before the birth).

aibutohavethisusername · 28/12/2019 18:20

About 5am

BellatrixLestat · 28/12/2019 18:22

DC1 - waters broke at 6am waking me up. Labour induced at 10am with drip.

DC2 - woke up at 4am in agony. Thought it was contractions but it wasn't. It was some sort of false labour in response to an infection in my uterus so was taken for EMCS.

DC3 - ELCS so no labour.

Sorry, not really helpful answers!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/12/2019 18:29

Mine was at night, about midnight.

madcatladyforever · 28/12/2019 18:32

Immediately as my feet were wet, waters gone.

CrazyMeep · 28/12/2019 18:32

Woke up to my waters breaking in the early hours (5am ish) with all 3.

Good luck :)

madcatladyforever · 28/12/2019 18:32

Oh yeah - 6pm or thereabouts.

SybilDisobedience · 28/12/2019 18:33

8am-ish

nowaypose · 28/12/2019 18:34

First started around midnight but the other two were during the day. I was only in labour for five hours from first contraction to birth with DC2 and it started around 2pm. I think DC3 started around 3pm. I didn’t know most labours began at night.

Feedmylambs · 28/12/2019 18:34

Around 5/6pm, having had contractions the day before, that morning, a break around lunchtime then continuing from 2pm, by 5pm they had gotten closer and stronger and I knew that I was in the latent phase then. Didn’t call midwife til 10pm though as that’s when they were very very close together, active labour (4cm) started around 2am and gave birth at 6am!
