Just that, 37+3 with number 2 and have been on/off having false labour for hours on end for a week driving me slightly loopy. I know its not an indication that it's about to start. But 90% of people will tell you labour starts at night (I appreciate its due to a rise in hormones) , my first did. It sure makes for long uncomfortable days! Especially sitting on the carpet all day with Dc1 for Christmas and thinking about the difficulties of getting them out the house in the middle of the night! Cheer me up with some alternative stories please. I have an elcs booked in 11 days but am convinced I won't make it (fingers crossed I'm fed up!)

Early evening. Thanks to a curry

FoxysFolkFace · 28/12/2019 18:35

DD1 - 7.20am when my waters broke waking me up!

DD2 - was an induction but everything really started happening 8 hours after the induction began

Feedmylambs · 28/12/2019 18:36

My waters didn’t break until I was an hour away from giving birth though.. funny because I’d always expected them to go before contractions even started (thanks to tv and film!)

flightless55 · 28/12/2019 18:38

Waters went after a stood up from toilet at 12:05 and labour pain started 12:20!

Wigeon · 28/12/2019 18:38

DD1: about 4.30am
DD2: started about 7am but was in denial until about 9.30am when I agreed with DH it was definitely Labour. She was born about 12.30pm.

AlunWynsKnee · 28/12/2019 18:39

11.30pm. Off to hospital at 6am and baby arrived before lunch.

LuluJakey1 · 28/12/2019 18:41

DC1 - 1.15 am- needed to go to the loo and waters broke
DC2 - About 6 am - woke with pains
DC 3 - About 9 am when I was walking home from taking DC1 to school and DC2 to nursery.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 28/12/2019 18:42

When the midwife broke my waters. Both times.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 28/12/2019 18:44

Waters accidentally broken during my sweep in the morning, nothing happened until I woke up just after midnight with my first contraction which then continued every 2/3 minutes, 8 hour labour and DD was born just after 8am. Pains were a lot different to the false ones i'd had in the run up the week before

Marshmallow91 · 28/12/2019 18:48

10am. Went to pee my waters broke and mucous plug came out. Within 2 hours I got actual labour pains and she was born 4.28am the next morning.

Concestor · 28/12/2019 18:50

First time 7am when my waters broke.

Second time was mid morning I think when contractions got intense.

yomellamoHelly · 28/12/2019 18:50

dc1 5 pm (in town so had to get a taxi to the hospital)
dc2 5 am (took a few moments for dh's brain to get into gear - ds1 had been fast so we both instinctivewly knew there wasn't much time)
dc3 midnight( thankfully fil had barely left so was able to turn straight round to look after dc)

Horehound · 28/12/2019 18:50

I remember not being able to take the pains anymore when I called the midwife at 5am but I knew I was in labour for a whole day previous to that. I think I woke around 5.30 with cramps

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 28/12/2019 18:55

I was in latent labour for two weeks, but my waters hadn't broken. I knew my labour had started in earnest at 7.20pm on a Sunday night when I went to the bathroom and a brown sludgy substance splattered all over the floor before I got to the loo. I thought that was my waters but it was just DS being distressed and having a poo inside me Envy

I remember the time so clearly because I phoned my mum and arranged for her to collect me after Coronation Street had been on, it started at 7.30pm.

bettythebutterfly · 28/12/2019 18:55

DC1: 6am, woke me up. DS arrived at 4:30 pm
DC 2: 1:30pm, DD arrived at 3:30pm

I am eternally grateful to have had daytime labours. I can't imagine how difficult it is to be up all night without sleep and in intense pain at the same time.

Darkstar4855 · 28/12/2019 18:57

About 3:30pm when the contractions got going, after my waters broke an hour before!

CloudyVanilla · 28/12/2019 18:58

With my first I was lucky, I had a full nights sleep, pottered around for a couple of hours and then I felt a contraction at around 10am. No mistaking it at all and I hadn't had any previous signs at all, even braxton hicks really.

I'm almost 37 weeks now with my third and keep having very strong period pains a few times in the evening (am having it right now actually) and DP can feel how tight my bump is when they happen.

It's odd because with my first there was clearly no question, the pain didn't knock me off my feet but it was very obviously a proper contraction and I immediately knew I was in labour.

With my second I was induced but I also had what I would describe as "proper contractions, as in the same as what happened with my first, but then they tapered off.... so who knows how it will start!

speakout · 28/12/2019 19:02

10pm and 6am.

I would vote for 6am anytime- baby born at 11am, home by 3pm same day.

SpaceDinosaur · 28/12/2019 19:03

When I started crowning! 😂

The monitor was broken so the midwives were tutting saying the induction had failed and that it was just the latent phase.

Shut them right up when I stood up off the ball an hr later and gave birth on the ward!

PickAChew · 28/12/2019 19:04

Never went into labour naturally with one. Ds2 was a few random contractions then he fell out when I went to the loo.

CentralPerkMug · 28/12/2019 19:36

Some brilliant stories here!

Mine were:
DC1 induced at 40+13, started to labour at 0900 and baby came at 1230.
DC2 sweep at 40+2, first contraction was that night at around midnight, baby was born at 0125.
DC3 woke up with a few weird cramps at 38+6 and at 0900 thought oh maybe these are mild contractions, baby was breech so I went straight to hospital and baby was born at 1130!

Most spontaneous labours do happen at night, but obviously there are plenty during the day too, labour wards are busy night and day (grin)

windycuntryside · 28/12/2019 19:40

I “knew” when pain was so bad I couldn’t talk during contractions. Baby born 1 hour later.

midnightmisssuki · 28/12/2019 19:40

Didn’t k own with number 1.
11am with number 2. He was out by 2pm.

Tetran · 28/12/2019 19:42

4am, it was very early labour but I remember feeling calm and just knowing. I fell back to sleep thankfully for a few hours, and sure enough labour progressed throughout the day.
