She has had vomiting and diarrhoea, started yesterday, and has been lethargic since Tuesday. Has gone rapidly downhill today. Has a temperature that is causing hallucinations, has had all the medicine she can have plus all the usual treatment for temperatures. Is incredibly irritable and wont let us touch her. There have been bugs about the house but from history with my other DD it seems like a kidney infection. Phoned out of hours at 6 and still haven't heard back from doctor. She is getting rapidly worse. Aibu bringing her to A&E? In northern Ireland so we have no drop ins here and no 111 service

@Queenofheartsnomore would love to know who the fuck thinks it’s unreasonable to take an ill 2 year old to A&E! Arses!!

1busybee · 26/12/2019 21:51

Sexequality · 26/12/2019 21:52

RubyAaron · 26/12/2019 21:57

Hope your little one is okay x

movingonbackwards · 26/12/2019 21:59

Are you in Belfast? I imagine the children's at the royal would see her fairly quickly with those symptoms. Hope she's ok!

rumandbiscuits · 26/12/2019 22:00

Hope she's ok Thanks it's heartbreaking seeing your child so poorly.

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/12/2019 22:00

Id have called an ambulance to be honest unless i could get her to hospital faster myself.

Ihavethefinalsleigh · 26/12/2019 22:05

hohopo · 26/12/2019 22:18

Yea defo would have taken especially at her age!!!

SunshineCake · 26/12/2019 22:18

It's so sad that people are so worried about using up valuable nursing time, or don't know the basics of first aid and health care, that they have to ask strangers whether hospital is necessary.

OP, I do hope your toddler is okay and you can take care of yourself too.

nervousfirsttimer1985 · 26/12/2019 22:19

Hope she is ok OP

Straight to hospital asap. Call 111 and ask about Sepsis. Google the symptoms. Although unlikely, it is extremely important to ask fast if it is a remote possibility. It can cpmmonly mask itself as flu or gastroenteritis. Also, if her temperature drops/sickness/diarrhea stops, do not be lulled into a false sense of security. I know that it's a real pita going to A&E when it's the last place that you want to be when very ill. Take a blanket and pillow with you to make her more comfortable. I have experience with sepsis (my husband nearly died after a throat infection and ended up on a life support machine in a coma). A few things to look out for: has she been weeing regularly? Does the blood/colour return promptly to her fingernails when pressed? (This can be a useful test), is there are discoloration of the skin? I.e. a sunburnt colour,a purple feverish colour, pinprick rash (do not wait for the latter to appear). Also, it's very hard to detect inwardly stages, so even if you are told that it is just a virus, still remain vigilant for any changes/deterioration and do not feel idiotic for going back for advice etc a few hours after having been seen and sent away.better to be safe than sorry.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 26/12/2019 22:22

In early stages

Blanketed · 26/12/2019 22:24

Hope she's OK OP.

Equanimitas · 26/12/2019 22:24

OP took her daughter to A&E almost two hours ago, she doesn't need any more advice on that.

mrssillysausage · 26/12/2019 22:25

Best wishes to your daughter OP.

fickthisshut · 26/12/2019 22:30

Well done for going to a&e

ShirleyPhallus · 26/12/2019 22:31

How is she now?

PurpleCrazyHorse · 26/12/2019 22:34

Thinking of you OP, hoping your DD is getting some medical attention.

We stopped at A&E on the way home one Christmas. DD had been ill all weekend (not eating but was still drinking). She had a 'funny turn' in the car, eyes rolled, was sick and went limp. We immediately turned around and drove straight into A&E. I find that medical staff are really happy to see kids, especially when they're not really old enough to say how they're feeling.

SirVixofVixHall · 26/12/2019 22:36

How worrying OP, I hope you are being seen swiftly, and that your dd is soon feeling better.

Usernamechange1 · 26/12/2019 22:38

Hoping for a speedy recovery for your SS, I also have a poorly 2 year old, although no where near as poorly as your little one so my heart is going out to you Flowers

Idontkowmyname · 26/12/2019 22:38

Thinking of you and dd.
