Bring my daughter to A&E

She has had vomiting and diarrhoea, started yesterday, and has been lethargic since Tuesday. Has gone rapidly downhill today. Has a temperature that is causing hallucinations, has had all the medicine she can have plus all the usual treatment for temperatures. Is incredibly irritable and wont let us touch her. There have been bugs about the house but from history with my other DD it seems like a kidney infection. Phoned out of hours at 6 and still haven't heard back from doctor. She is getting rapidly worse. Aibu bringing her to A&E? In northern Ireland so we have no drop ins here and no 111 service

At 2 I would definitely be taking her.
When was her last wee? Is her temp going down with something like calpol?

MadameJosephine · 26/12/2019 20:45

I hope you’re on your way OP. I’d definitely take her, she’s only little and vulnerable. Hope she’s feeling better soon

Biscusting · 26/12/2019 20:45

Go now!

Thumbellini · 26/12/2019 20:46

Useful link to waiting times in all the A&E's in NI

www.nidirect.gov.uk/emergency-department-waiting-times

If near Belfast I would just go straight to Children's A&E. Hope she improves soon!

paradyning · 26/12/2019 20:47

If she's going rapidly downhill and doesn't want to be touched call 999. Can you actually get her safely to hospital?

Cremebrule · 26/12/2019 20:47

If you suspect kidney infection don’t mess around. My daughter was dangerously ill with a kidney infection and it was scary how quickly she deteriorated. I hope she is better soon. It is horrid seeing little ones so poorly.

HermioneWeasley · 26/12/2019 20:48

Hope you’re on your way there and she gets treated and on the mend quickly

Hayhayleigh · 26/12/2019 20:49

Hope she gets better very soon

Queenofheartsnomore · 26/12/2019 20:52

Who are are the posters who think she would be unreasonable to take her 2yr old to a+e. Absolutely take her.

Mooey89 · 26/12/2019 20:52

I don’t want to scare you but there are sepsis markers there. Don’t mess about, just call 999 and get an ambulance to her.

chinam · 26/12/2019 20:52

Hope you are at the hospital now being looked after.

AngelaScandal · 26/12/2019 20:52

Absolutely bring her in.

Welshmaenad · 26/12/2019 20:53

Take her now.

TheBigFatMermaid · 26/12/2019 20:54

Hope you've taken her already by now!

ProfessionalBoss · 26/12/2019 20:55

Children can deteriorate alarmingly quickly, and an uncontrolled fever is the usual cause of febrile convulsions... You've waited long enough for a call back and with her health deteriorating, it's a huge red flag that she needs to be seen immediately... I'm glad you've gone, and I hope she gets better soon, xXx

OlaEliza · 26/12/2019 20:57

A small child? With a kidney infection? Take her to a&e or emergency go or whatever asap.

I came down with a water infection on Wednesday last week. It got worse and on Friday I had antibiotics but it was in my kidneys and ive been in pain since. Still on them now

DON'T LEAVE IT, IF WILL ONLY GET WORSE.

I hope she's ok, it's awful.

FREEM · 26/12/2019 20:57

agree. Hope shes ok

PointlessUsername · 26/12/2019 20:57

AliTheMinx · 26/12/2019 20:58

Loveislandaddict · 26/12/2019 20:59

Go, go, go!

BahBloodyHumbug · 26/12/2019 20:59

Hopefully you are already there and being seen.
Hope your little one is better soon.

toddytoff · 26/12/2019 21:00

Hope she’s doing ok Flowers you did the right thing

ScrimshawTheSecond · 26/12/2019 21:01

Hope she's okay, OP. Poor thing.

SleepWarrior · 26/12/2019 21:01

An uncontrollable fever with hallucinations in a toddler definitely needs attention, so if out of hours can't help you then yes to a&e. Hopefully you're there already. It's obviously a shame to spread d&v around, but even d&v patients occasionally become emergencies so needs must. Hope shes OK Flowers

ThelmaDinkley · 26/12/2019 21:02

Hope your little one makes a swift recovery x
